No he didn’t. It was a fast play against a dropping opponent. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the game.

I confess to the "tribal behavior" in regards to one local MLB team that dates back to childhood or the 1961 season.

Jim Bunning, Al Kaline, Norm Cash, Don Mossi, Rocky Colavito, Frank Lary et. al. were real men and real heroes. No national anthem demonstrations, no showboating after a home run, just a bunch of humble guys happier than anything to be paid for playing a kid's game that they loved in front of thousands of adoring fans.

Texans owner said, “We can’t have inmates running the prison.”

Of course, he apologized today for that line! lol

From your initial post:

If Alonso lets Flacco slide without the hit, he makes the first down.

Apparently you DO watch football!!!

They routinely give extremely favorable spots under those circumstances. It's not right, and the rule itself isn't right.

BS! The refs are right on the money.

If they weren't, wouldn't the opposing coach immediately challenge the spotting of the ball?

Of course not. There are only a limited number of challenges available, and also, they want their guys to get a good spot as well.

Challenges regarding ball spotting are pretty rare. Usually, the commentators will just mention "that was a pretty generous spot from the official".

Regardless, the rules should be identical for all ball carriers. Anything less damages the game...

You couldn’t not see that hit this morning.

Yes, because spotting of the ball is for the most part accurate.

There are only a limited number of challenges available

Yes, but you don't lose yours if your challenge is upheld.

they want their guys to get a good spot as well.

Different refs in different parts of field "spot" the ball depending on where the ball was "downed."

Geez, what league are you watching?

“Thugball” is right...

In the old days we talked of sportsmanship and tactics ... now it’s ‘thugball’... a much closer description.

He’s Cuban and Colombian and went to a rich school in Silicon Valley.

But otherwise, you nailed him exactly.

Okay, I’ve coached and/or worked for youth leagues since I was 14. I’ve never once seen anyone try to injure a player intentionally.

So, that’s a really bad league you are involved in.

They do.

I don’t think you’ve watched football before.

He does.

There was an amazing moment on Dan Le Batard’s show where Le Batard’s Cuban father and Alonso spoke in Spanish for a few moments. (The running joke is that Le Batard’s father likes any player that is either Cuban or could be mistaken for Cuban).

It was in Southern California. As competitive a place as I have ever lived.

I watched the video over and over and over and what I saw was Alonzo heading full speed at the QB making a run with the football. Alonzo then went low for what would have been a perfect, thigh high tackle at the same time Flacco started his slide. There was no way Alonzo could have stopped his momentum and thus there was nothing dirty about it whatsoever.........

it was a given that the best player would be taken out by injury in the first period.

Approx. 14 years ago, Detroit Hockey great Chris Chelios' brother moved to Michigan from California and rented the house behind me. His move was to assemble his own Junior Hockey team here in S.E. Michigan.

He created a team of teenagers from all across the country and found parents in the area to foster them while they continued their high school educations.

He had one promising kid player that he found a tryout for with an NHL farm team in Canada. The kid lasted for only one tryout since Steve's instruction to him was to focus on the best player on the team and kick his ass at his first opportunity.......

Obviously the kid was sent home and when Steve told me the story, he still had no clue about what he had just did to this kid.

I don’t watch it either.

NFL committed suicide by SJW.

They should have never set up shop in New York. That’s the beginning of the end of any organization.
