The US pulled the bulk of its diplomats from Cuba in September, blaming attacks on its staff that caused hearing loss and concussions. Cuba has denied any involvement, and now it is offering a counter-explanation: The alleged “sonic attacks” are coming from cicadas and crickets.

Cubans can’t make up their minds which species ? Or do they have two sonic superbug types?
Used to be some tiny nondescript frogs around our pond that had such shrill voices and were in such vast numbers that if you did not wear earplugs and fished there for an hour or two close to sunset when the pond was in shadow, it would take a half hour or more for you to get even a little of your hearing back.

you know, i really think you’re on to something! A remake of “Frogs” only with Mutant Cicadas! Some freakazoid swamp monster controls when the mutant cicadas switch from their normal insane buzzing to their sinister supercalifragilistic buzzing, which drives their victims to commit horrifically gory murders of their friends.
Naturally, set in a deserted house in a creepy swamp in the middle of nowhere, with a gaggle of stupid teenagers arriving to “vacation” there during the summer ...

We could offer to help the Cubans,,,
-like with some extra strength insecticide, such as a 1.2 megaton B-83 size strategic bomb.
