I'm not trying to be funny, but does the direction of travel even matter for a box truck driving on a bicycle path? WTF?
It’s pertinent, in that the fact he was going the wrong way makes it automatically deliberate................
In larger cities there are often designated left or right hand bike lanes just like regular auto lanes. This guy obviously wanted to cause maximum mayhem by running against the traffic direction.

Then again, I suppose if you are driving a box truck, ANY direction on a bike path is the “wrong way”.

In leftist-run NYC, not following bike laws was his greater offense.

Yes it does for one reason mainly. If you are on a bike and can see it coming then you might have a chance to veer off the path and out of the way. Even though the rules of the road say that bike and vehicle traffic are to travel in the same direction it is not always the safest. accept at intersections you are much safer to travel against traffic. As a kid I had an experience that I would have been run over on the highway if I had not seen a truck that swerved onto the shoulder and came straight at me. I was able to ride off the shoulder and go into a field to avoid being struck. So glad that I was riding against the traffic. If my back had been to that event then I would have been killed.
