It is in a way. It's all hallow's eve. It's the day before All Saints Day in Christian doctrine which is a celebration of all of the Saints, known and unknown.
We celebrated on "Hallowmas" every day when I was a child. My old Russian great grandmother used to make a feast after church. It's still celebrated in some parts of the world.
