More than thirty years ago I was doing research on sex differences and a sociologist noted that women have emotional friends while men have activity friends. In other words, men have their basketball friends, their golf friends, their fishing friends, their political friends, all based on a different role in that man’s life. Guys are not programmed to “emote” for the sake of airing feelings and probably the most fearsome words a man can hear from a woman is “We need to talk.”

I happen to be a woman but I don’t believe men should be pressured to emote. The same study by the sociologist pointed out that men focus on threats coming from outside the home while women focus on threats from within. I say viva la difference.

I’ve worked in offices that were majority women in lead roles, and they are dripping with negative emotional energy, big time.

This almost never happens in all- or majority-men offices.

And Cigars and Wiskey and other hard spirits, something some gelded perfumed princes you might know couldn't do around certain busy bodies. And Instead of talking about getting up and moving, we talk about sitting around.
