‘It's insane': Ont. patient told she'd have to wait 4.5 years to see neurologist

An Ontario doctor says health-care wait times have reached “insane” lengths in the province, as one of her patients faces a 4.5-year wait to see a neurologist. When Dr. Joy Hataley, a family practice anesthetist in Kingston, Ont., recently tried to send a patient to a neurologist at the Kingston General Hospital, she received a letter from the specialist’s office telling her that the current wait time for new patient referrals is 4.5 years. The letter said that, if the delay is “unacceptable” to Dr. Hataley, she should instead refer the patient to a neurologist in Ottawa or Toronto.

if the delay is “unacceptable” to Dr. Hataley, she should instead refer the patient to a neurologist in Ottawa or Toronto. where the delay will only be 4 years.

Govenment monopolies are the worst kind.

Single payer/socialized/nationalized medicine is GOVERNMENT MONOPOLY HEALTHCARE.

Canada Medicare is paid for by heavy taxes on everything.

You don’t have to worry about medical bills but its not always easy to see a specialist.

Life in Canada has its trade-offs.

Anyone want to guess who she probably voted for Prime Minister? And now she is complaining. Elections have consequences.

[[You don’t have to worry about medical bills]]

And you also don’t have to worry about having too much money- as they tax you to death there- knew a fella that almost died twice while he waited to be seen for months- heaven forbid you get an aggressive form of cancer or something in Canada- you’ll die waiting to be seen/treated

Almost all of the Canadians that I know are the “better than thou” type - but polite!

Healthcare insurance premiums go up in the USA- “Well in Canada....”

A shooting in the USA “Well in Canada....”

But then I always get a kick out of “My parents are coming down - dad needs an operation.”

(I’m not sure how that gets paid - I guess out of their pocket?”

[[but polite!]]

Huh? I worked in food service for a few years after high school, in a state just below Canada- and we’d get a lot of Canadians that would dine there— We all found them to be rude- demanding and they didn’t hardly tip at all (not all of them, but a good majority of them)

And you are right about their superiority complex- Many I met just were very disdainful of us Americans

When I tried to make a first appointment with a neurologist here in the States, I was told he wasn’t available for four months. I called around until I finally found one with only a three-month wait. I thought that was bad.

A common neurology complaint is peripheral neuropathy. I stumbled onto a site that had the cause as MOLD!

I was checking on my own neuro problems, and found others much worse off!

I'll be quiet now. ;)

If you’re a man, be advised child support payments can last for the life of the child, i.e. well into a
the “child’s” adulthood.

From age 0-14 your are insignificant and a costly burden to society 15 to 40 you have something to offer the state and are a good investment so we will keep you healthy, age 41 to end of life you are a burden once again and will receive the poorest of healthcare in a hope that your afflictions will kill you, thankyou !
