As an observer only, never served, the blue service uniform always looks like it doesn't quite fit. Baggy looking, sleeves too long. I wanted to like it because I thnk the old cavalry look from the 1800s is awesome but they didn't really capture it in my opinion.

Regarding the pinks and greens, my point of reference is only from watching old WW2 movies and for some reason (maybe bad color reproduction ability on old TVs) they always looked like dark brown jackets with khaki pants to me. Always thought it looked really good. Then I saw a real uniform and was like 'whoa, why are the pants pink? And the jacket is sort of a faded green, this looks terrible!' I've since gotten used to it but I sort of miss the Brown and Khaki uniform that only existed in my poorly calibrated eyes.

My dad had several pairs of “pinks” from his service time but quit wearing them in the early 60s when we came home from overseas.
A couple of his buddies wore pinks and may well have been buried in them.
