In Virginia, Ex-Felons Voted For The First Time After Regaining Their Rights

During Tuesday’s election in Virginia, Williams had originally planned to go and vote right at 6 a.m., but her ride was delayed a few hours. Williams, a former felon, lost her right to vote decades ago because she was convicted of a felony and Virginia bars felons from voting unless that right is restored by the governor.

Williams, who is now back in school working to earn a degree that will help her become an auto-mechanic, said she was last in prison in 2014, but only recently had her voting rights restored by Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D). And so on Tuesday, at the age of 55, Williams cast a ballot for the first time in her life.

If I were a felon, I would vote for the Democrat every time.

If felons can vote then their Constitutional rights should also be reinstated. Voting is not a right guaranteed under the Constitution.

Tell the Dem candidates:

You only support Felon’s voting because they vote for you.

If enough Democrat governors take over, restoring the voting rights of felons and illegals they will have a lock on some states, even in the South.

Not much would be my prediction. Former felons do not strike me as being the voting type.

No felon should ever be allowed to vote unless he has made full and complete restitution to his victim(s).

If I were a felon, I would vote for the Democrat every time.

My guess is that felons will vote dem at least 98% of the time, with the other 2% being too stupid to know who they are voting for. Of course that's precisely why the dems forced through the the law to allow them to vote.

We are so screwed in this country. The only way people are ever going to understand “nothing is free” is if their freedoms are taken away by communism or socialism. We have a bunch of young people that think all we need to do is tax the rich. They didn’t get rich because they are stupid. They will hide their money is assets or off shore banks, but they are not going to give it up just because someone says so. Look how wonderful Cuba and Venezuela is doing with their socialism it’s just a wonderful life. How can people be so stupid. With 350 million people in this country the best we could have done was the Donald, Hilary or Bernie, we are so screwed. Sorry for venting.

If I were even contemplating committing a crime, I would vote for the lawlessness and disorder candidates, straight ticket, no question.

It says that she lost her right to vote "decades ago".

It then goes on to say that she was last in prison in 2014 — WTF? Three years ago she was a con, and now she is voting. And how does three years add up to "decades" ?

The only way a felon becomes an “ex-felon” is when their conviction is overturned. More orwellian doublespeak from leftist lunatics.

Hate to say it. But I think felons should be allowed to vote. I know they normally vote for democrats. Thats because they are overwhelmingly black. But I don’t care. One person, one vote. And taking away the right to vote, allows the government too much room for abuse.

Voting is as much a right as it is a responsibility. So you are taking away something society relies on, not the individual voter.

They forfeited that right when they were convicted and sentenced. As for the “they’ve paid their debt to society” BS, yes they have but permanent forfeiture of certain rights is part of the “debt.”

“How much did felons voting affect the outcome of the Governor and delegate races in Virginia?”

The margin of victory was much higher than a few thousand vote of felons. The real causes:
1) Gillespie ran as a traditional party Republican. Gillespie deliberately distanced himself from Trump. The GOP did not have a good ground game to get out the vote.
2) The Democrat party unified after its primary and ran to win. The candidate for governor brought in the big Democrat names to run with him. He didn’t shy away from Obama.
3) The shifting Demographics of the state supported the Democrat. 20% of voters are black and they vote as a block for the Democrat. There are large populations of federal workers, who favor Democrats, in northern Virginia and the tidewater region. Urban areas in Virginia are growing rapidly with young people who are liberal and vote Democrat.

It is noteworthy three major newspapers in the state - Richmond, Charlottesville, and Roanoke endorsed the Republican, yet he lost.

There are plenty of people who are eager to get them registered and fill out an absentee ballot for them.
