The purpose is that she was a disaster of a candidate and that they don’t want her. They are warning her, through the revealing of salacious, but not illegal, activities, that the DNC is willing to release information about her acts of criminality and murder if she does stop trying to run for President.
That, and perhaps wanting to live another day.

Brazile has motives in this including the need to reestablish her own credibility after helping Hillary Clinton with the debate questions and so on.
She's a sick old beatch who needs to be kicked to the curb for the good of the party.
I think Brazile is setting herself up to manage one of the following individuals for the 2020 Campaign: Corey Booker, Eric Holder, or Michelle Obama.
She is trying to bury Hillary so there is no chance she can run in 2020.
I am still looking forward to finding out exactly what is going on with Hillary’s heath............
The whole RAT party is full of crooks and pervs.
I see this as a way to dump all of the corruption onto Hillary and the Clintons in order to reinvent a new, cleaned up image. It will still be a filth filled party, but the lies will cover that fact.
It is a ruse, of course, but someone has to go down to make that happen.

Brazile’s reputation took a major hit last year when it came out that she had leaked debate questions to Hillary. She can’t say that didn’t happen. So she is attempting to restore her reputation/credibility by saying she was above all the other things that were going on.

Well, no. She's made too many enemies in the party. Even Democrats who don't like Hillary won't trust Donna now.
I think she wants to sell books and get TV time. Maybe she's tired of campaigning and party work and she's now transitioning to something else.
Of course, if some future Democrat president wants to give her a job, she won't turn it down, but she's burned too many bridges to step right into another campaign.
To take Hillary out and to cast the Republicans for being unfair and piling on Hillary just because she is a woman. This will allow them to cast Trump and Republicans as being anti-female and build up female anger and enthusiasm for Kamala Harris the new women’s turn candidate.
People like Rush Limbaugh are over-thinking this.
Donna Brazile probably has no interest in destroying Hillary and the Clinton machine. She probably just wants to sell a lot of books, and it's now safe to "destroy" the Clintons because they're already history.
From the clips of the Brazile interviews I've heard in recent days, it sounds like less than half the things she's saying today even reflect what's written in the book excerpts that have been released. She probably didn't even write the damn thing.

This has a bit of the feel of Beria, Khrushchev, and the gang watching Stalin gasp his last. A very dangerous guy whom they all feared was finally weakened enough that they saw an opportunity take him out or, at least, stand by while nature took its course.

She has told enough that if any thing happens to her it would be laid at the Clinton's feet.
However she held back enough to keep the DNC from sinking.
Part of the DNC's problems were that Obummer refused to fund raise for them. She is saying this without saying it and is saying that their next candidate should be a loyal party critter who will fund raise for the national party.
