Donald Trump: I Blame Previous Presidents for Massive Trade Deficit, Not China
Breitbart ^ | 11/09/2017 | Charlie Spiering

President Donald Trump praised Chinese business leaders during his state visit to China, pointing out frankly that he didn’t blame them for the massive trade deficit with the United States.

“I don’t blame China,” Trump said, pointing to estimations that the trade deficit with the United States was as high as $500 billion. “After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for the benefit of its citizens? I give China great credit.”

His remarks drew applause from the business leaders in the room.

Trump blamed previous presidents of the United States for allowing the lopsided trade relationship with China.

“I do blame past administrations for allowing this out-of-control trade deficit to take place and to grow,” he said. “We have to fix this because it just doesn’t work for our great American companies, and it doesn’t work for our great American workers. It is just not sustainable.”

Trump said that he had a great relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and would continue to negotiate on trade.

POTUS DJT says, “who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for the benefit of its citizens? I give China great credit.”

Trump is right. As Dear Abby used to say, no one can take advantage of you without your permission.

Well, it is part of the art of the deal. Why insult someone you want something from when you can blame somebody who isn’t there?

Besides, in the last couple of weeks, previous presidents GHWB, GWB, BJC, and of course Obama, have told everyone what a dunderhead Trump is. Just today I saw a clip of Clinton talking about how Trump is a would-be member of the Club of Dictators. Rich.

It’s just verbal payback.

Correct. The stupid presidents beforehand allowed it to happen.

It is similar with illegal aliens. It’s not their fault really. If I was dirt poor in Mexico, I might consider sneaking into the US too. Blame for the illegal alien problem lies squarely with our polticians who have encouraged it for decades.

“After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for the benefit of its citizens? I give China great credit.”

Every government's primary concern should be the well-being of all its citizens. For too long, the U.S. federal government's primary concern, under Rats and RINOs, has been the well-being of corporate globalists.

disagree some. it’s largely our leaders who allowed illegal immigration but it has also been US citizens willing to employ them against laws (individual households and businesses), and also actual individual illegal aliens taking the step across border.

Trade deficit is some what different in that it’s more business to business and not so much about individuals taking actions that caused the deficit - though individuals support the deficit by buying foreign goods does add to the overall problem.

Maybe, to a certain extent.

But in my view it is those previous Congresses who hold the lion’s share of the blame. Sorry, but bad deals could have and should have been corrected by the House and the Senate.

Maybe not immediately, but over time they surely could have seen to it that things were set right.

He is right. China is playing by the rules as the US defined them.

And under those rules, US businesses either have to offshore or their competition will and put them out of business.

Candidates like Mitt Romney who claimed that if China didn’t play by the rules, they would impose tariffs are toothless idiots.

Trump gets it. He was preaching this prior to the previous election. But I fear he’s the only person in Washington that gets it.

I don’t understand the notice that statement has caused. He said that over and over during the campaign — deals made by incompetent people that allowed foreign countries to take us to the cleaners.

As he should! THEY were driving the Globalist agenda to bring America down to the level of the European quasi-socialist nations in order to make the New World Order easier to impose.

We have to fix this because it just doesn’t work for our great American companies, and it doesn’t work for our great American workers.

Fix it how? China isn't going to voluntarily give up the deals if they're that advantageous to them. So how will Trump compel them to change?
