Sanders Urges DNC to Be More Transparent

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the purported victim of the DNC's rigged 2016 primary, has jotted down some thoughts on the Donna Brazile bombshell in a new op-ed.

Brazile, the former acting DNC chair, released an excerpt from her new book "Hacks" last week detailing how the DNC already had side fundraising agreements with Hillary Clinton. She recalled being sick to her stomach having to call Sanders and tell him how the DNC was seemingly working behind the scenes for his opponent.

In his response, Sanders, who had an inspired run against Clinton that lasted months longer than expected (many young voters weren't warming to Hillary), explains what the party needs to do to fix its image. He begins by taking on President Trump, but the juicy part is halfway through the piece.

Donna Brazile’s recent book makes it abundantly clear how important it is to bring fundamental reforms to the Democratic Party. The party cannot remain an institution largely dominated by the wealthy and inside-the-Beltway consultants. It must open its doors and welcome into its ranks millions of working people and young people who desperately want to be involved in determining the future of our nation.

Clinton's (brief) response to the Brazile allegations were not quite so urgent. During her appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" this week, she claimed not to know what Brazile was even talking about.

"I didn't know what she was referring to, because as has now come out, that just wasn't the case," Clinton said.

Other Democrats are now distancing themselves from Brazile's account - even Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA), who when first asked about the revelation, said matter-of-factly "yes" the primary was rigged.

Now, she says "the overall 2016 primary process was fair and Hillary made history."

Sanders notes in his op-ed that he and Clinton agreed they needed a Unity Reform Commission to fix some problems in the party.

"In a few weeks, this group will have its final meeting in Washington, D.C., and will decide if we are going to move forward in an inclusive way or continue with the current failed approach."

If you go to the link there is a link to the full Sanders Op-Ed at Politico. If you're a fan of DU Funnies you'd love his writing style. I tried to post it here with a LOL alert but Politico is blocked.

Poor old Bernie. Does he not realize that Clinton and the DNC colluded to kill his presidential campaign from the get go?

Senile old Socialist. He never had a chance. Even Joe Biden was smart enough to know better than to enter the race.

Bernie isn't even a declared "Democrat" and yet here he is portending to make hay over how the Dem party should be run.

Donna Brazile’s recent book makes it abundantly clear how important it is to bring fundamental reforms to the Democratic Party. The party cannot remain an institution largely dominated by the wealthy and inside-the-Beltway consultants.

Oh my ... what rich irony !!! /laughs

During her appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" this week, she claimed not to know what Brazile was even talking about. "I didn't know what she was referring to, because as has now come out, that just wasn't the case," Clinton said.

This from the "smartest woman in the world" !!!

"In a few weeks, this group will have its final meeting in Washington, D.C., and will decide if we are going to move forward in an inclusive way or continue with the current failed approach."

Oh, please do ... please continue with the current failed approach ...

Does Sanders realize how ridiculous he sounds. The Democrat Party has been crooked as far back as I can remember and I am in my 60’s. They would all be in jail if they admitted all of the fraudulent practices they embrace

Sanders and Trump were five-alarm warnings to the establishment of both parties and neither one appears to have a clue that they'd better respond or else. Instead they're trashing and obstructing Trump at every opportunity and in fierce denial and coverup on Hillary's behalf.

It was apparent from the start that Sanders' non-Democrat status was going to hinder him. He wasn't beholden to DNC support for his office, for one thing. For another his policies weren't being vetted by all the Right People. All he had was a large and passionate following of voters. That wasn't enough, and the fact that it wasn't enough is precisely what is wrong with the current system.

Of course the nomination was "rigged" in the sense that party control of super-delegates could tip the nomination any way the Committee wanted regardless of what the party members wanted. Brazile's case is that 0bama broke the party and Hillary picked up the tab with strings attached, and so far no one has denied it convincingly. So, does the DNC cede power and hence control in order to become more responsive to the popular will? Watch the Rules Committee, but my bet is Not On Your Life.

Because if they do, they risk a Trump, since that's what happened to the Republicans. Those played by their own rules and when the 17 boiled down to one, it wasn't one of the insiders and there wasn't much anyone could do about it except squeal and drag their feet afterward. The power people in the DNC do not want that to happen. Those in the RNC are being outed on a daily basis for it: the McCains, the McConnells, the Ryans; these must now choose between the wrath of the power brokers and the wrath of the voters, and it's a dead tossup at the moment as to which, if any, will navigate that course and survive. That would upset a large number of people on the Democrat side were something similar to take place.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), an avowed Socialist, should not even be a Senator. Because everything he believes in would not allow him to carry out the oath of his office. That makes him a lying Socialist.
