When you’re dead, you’re dead. You don’t feel a thing, you don’t care what anyone does.

I sat on a dead guy 50 years ago and ate breakfast. He’d tried to kill me a couple of hours before and he lost, so he was my seat that morning.

I used to carry a wallet on me in combat that was filled with pictures of pretty girls, a BSA Lightning, an AC Cobra - it was for the guy that got me: he’d think that he’d killed the biggest stud in the 1st Marine Division. What would I have cared at that point?

Combat is killing and being killed. Gen. Amos was a witless airwinger and should never had been Commandant.

Only type of MARINE who should ever be Commandant should come up through GROUND COMBAT UNITS, with amphib and air envelopment training.
Start with a MUSTANG up from the ranks, then EARN it.
Even though I would settle for Vandegrift and Chapman.
