A former colleague of embattled Alabama Republican Senate Nominee Roy Moore said on Saturday that it was open secret the former judge dated high school girls during the 1980s.
Teresa Jones, who worked with Moore as a deputy district attorney for Etowah County, Ala., from 1982 until 1985, said that it was 'common knowledge' the controversial politician allegedly preferred younger women.
'It was common knowledge that Roy Moore dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird,' Jones told CNN. 'We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall ... but you really wouldn't say anything to someone like that.'
Moore has been mired in scandal since the Washington Post reported on Thursday that he had inappropriately touched a 14-year-old girl when he was in his early 30s. The Post also alleges that he pursued sexual relationships with a 16-year-old girl and two 18-year-old females during a stretch in the 1970s.
The age of consent in Alabama is 16 years of age.
Moore, 70, vehemently denies the allegations, saying that he believes the timing of the accusations are aimed at undermining his candidacy. 'In the next few days there will be revelations about the motivation and the content of this article,' Moore said during a Birmingham campaign rally on Saturday.

Legal marriage age was 13 when Moore was dating. Marriage allowed with mother’s consent. At 16 mother’s approval was no longer necessary.
Minimum marrying age in AL is also 16 with parental consent.
Prior to 2003 marrying age was 14.
He didn’t marry until 1985.
Maybe he was looking for a child bride.
I haven’t been able to find Kayla Moore’s Date of Birth.
This article gives some info on Kayla, but didn’t list her actual age. One of the comments mentions that she’s 14 years younger than hubby, Roy. I have no idea if that’s true, or not.

I seem to remember a higher-order formulation. I don’t remember it exactly, but went something like this for ideal age for husband to marry wife:
Age of Husband = 2* age of wife - 7 yrs
But most women accept this if the man is REALLY good looking.
Women are attracted to status.
Younger women and older men are a natural match.
The previously accepted formula for a “best fit” was for the woman to be 1/2 the man’s age plus 7.
The 31 year old wasn’t married, but as it turned out, he did drink too much. One night he was feeling his cups and wanted to stay over and objected when I said no.

“Dating” was more akin to courtship in the seventies. Now I hear people use the term as if sex is taken for granted.
Parents can’t sign away underage children—not in America.
This crap could cost a reliable Senate seat. Todd Akin was a problem and falling like a rock. Three other good conservative candidates could have beaten McKaskill. He was urged to step aside and he didn’t. I didn’t care one way or the other about him. I cared about the Senate seat.
So here we are with another problem. I can’t care about the personal goals of Roy Moore. I care about the Senate seat. For the sake of Trump’s agenda, we cannot lose it. He may be guilty or innocent of the charges. None of us can truly know. We do know it could very well be a smear job set up by the WashPost and Dems. The timing was such that Moore cannot be replaced on the ballot. A write in for another Republican will surely fail.
I have heard that it may be possible to cancel this election and set up another. If that is what it takes, then it should be done. The new candidate: Jeff Sessions. The new AG, Rudy. Talk about driving the Dems insane. That is a nightmare scenario for them.
The Dems did what it took and kept the Torricelli seat. We don’t need to be stupid and lose an Alabama seat.

It’s 16 now but it used be 12 in Alabama .“The age of consent in Alabama is 16 years of age.” NEWS FLASH...it is 16 in most states!

May-December marriages were a much more of a thing in prior times. One of my grandmothers was the teen bride of a widower who had one son who survived the illness which killed his mother and sister. She lived in Oklahoma, but was born in “Indian Territory.” In fact, though my other grandmother was older when she married, she too married a widower with a son.
This was still somewhat common in the 80s—but such men were somewhat suspect “chickenhawks” for not being interested in someone with more equal and adult experience.
