Looks to me like Moore was of the opinion that marrying a woman 10-12 years younger was the formula for a long lasting happy marriage for him and courted ( as opposed to dating) women of this age differential
Seems to have worked out well for both him and the woman he eventually married

I seem to remember a higher-order formulation. I don’t remember it exactly, but went something like this for ideal age for husband to marry wife:
Age of Husband = 2* age of wife - 7 yrs
