Senate Republicans on Monday signaled that they will do whatever it takes to prevent Roy Moore from becoming the next senator from Alabama, though hopefully without letting the seat fall into Democratic hands.

(R-Ky.) called on Moore to withdraw from the Senate race and said he believes the women who are accusing the former judge of sexual misconduct.

Sen. Cory Gardner

(R-Colo.), the leader of the campaign arm of Senate Republicans, went one step further, urging his colleagues to expel Moore from the Senate should he win the special election on Dec. 12.

"It is not up to the corrupt GOP Senators. That decision belongs to the voters of Alabama."

And yet they'll throw whatever tantrums they need to throw to make trouble for Moore and, in doing so, risk violating a few fundamental constitutional precepts. It's a dangerous game they're playing.

It is indeed.

What’s to prevent allegations being leveled at current GOP
Senators? If all it takes is an allegation, they are all in deep doo.

“When a Democrat is accused of something, all Democrats stick together and support him.”

And don’t forget many of the republicans support the accused democrat (e.g., Mendez, clinton, Kennedy ......) as well.

If he gets elected I don’t think they can refuse to seat him. But I think there is serious doubt that Moore can pull it off.

Now I’m convinced the voter fraud, which started in a large way in Virginia when Obama was running. Is a project of dark state.

There has been a 30 year plan put in place to steal the country by importing foreigners.
The final amnesty that would cement the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) into place has been sought repeatedly since 2006. They sold us Rubio to get the last one in 2013.
We have been prevented from electing anyone who would side with US and the rule of law.
Trump had the wealth and fame to break through the Bush blockade at the RNC.
They are not going to allow that to happen again.
The most important thing to the Uniparty is protecting the demographic changes they have made to the country against the will of the citizens.
That’s what drives the NeverTrump, the media and the Democrats hatred of Trump, it is an extension of their hatred of US.

I’ve come to the point that while I must still vote for Republicans, I detest that party more than the Democrats. The Democrats are the orcs outside our walls, but the GOPe is the Wormtongue within.

Amen.
This is an innuendo war, it’s the fast moving politics of smear.
If there were actionable wrongs committed, Senator Moore will be around to face the music from his seat in the Senate.

If he gets elected I don’t think they can refuse to seat him.

I'm not 100% certain, but believe they can per Section 5 of the U.S. Constitution:

Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members,...Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

If they do seat him, the Dems would eagerly join in expelling him. So two-thirds should be easy to achieve. But I think the first clause about each House being the judge of the elections and qualifications of their own members could be used to refused to seat him.

No matter what happens, it's a poisonous situation that can have no good outcome. For way too long, we have allowed peoples lives to be destroyed on mere accusations without proof or trials. Accusations of racism, sexism, sexual harassment, and all the other Leftist identity categories. Yes, it's recently come back to bite some Hollywood figures, much to our satisfaction, but most of the time these types of accusations only are used against and destroy Republicans. So, no matter who the target is, I always remain skeptical until and unless proof surfaces.

Alcee Hastings was impeached as a judge and the people elected him to Congress.

If Moore wins and the gop over turns the election results by refusing to seat him I will vote against EVERY Republican for the rest of my life. Probably will whether Moore wins or not.
