Trump Shatters Norms by Pressing for Clinton Investigation (MSM snowflakes get the vapors)
NY Times ^ | 2 hours ago | Peter Baker

The request alone was enough to trigger a political backlash, as critics of Mr. Trump quickly decried what they called “banana republic” politics of retribution, akin to autocratic backwater nations where election losers are jailed by winners.

Democrats still vividly recall Mr. Trump on the campaign trail vowing to prosecute Mrs. Clinton if he won. “It was alarming enough to chant ‘lock her up’ at a campaign rally,” said Brian Fallon, who was Mrs. Clinton’s campaign spokesman. “It is another thing entirely to try to weaponize the Justice Department in order to actually carry it out.”

But conservatives said Mrs. Clinton should not be immune from scrutiny as a special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, investigates Russia’s interference in last year’s election and any ties it may have to Mr. Trump’s campaign. They argued, for example, that Mrs. Clinton was the one doing Russia’s bidding in the form of a uranium deal approved when she was secretary of state.

Peter Schweizer, whose best-selling book, “Clinton Cash,” raised the uranium issue in 2015, said a special counsel would be the best way to address this matter because it would actually remove it from politics. “It offers greater independence from any political pressures and provides the necessary tools to hopefully get to the bottom of what happened and why it happened,” said Mr. Schweizer, whose nonprofit organization was co-founded by Stephen K. Bannon, Mr. Trump’s former chief strategist.

A letter by Stephen E. Boyd, an assistant attorney general, to Representative Robert W. Goodlatte, Republican of Virginia and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, disclosed that career prosecutors were evaluating issues that the congressman raised in his own letters to the department in July and September.

The old crone had plenty of time to just disappear but no she has set an unprecedented behavior for a candidate who lost the election

“”critics of Mr. Trump quickly decried what they called “banana republic” politics of retribution, akin to autocratic backwater nations where election losers are jailed by winners.”

The flip side of this coin, is that politicians, knowing they are getting slightly more forbearance in the effort to smoothly transition power, have a grave responsibility not to use that forbearance as a shield allowing them to commit crimes.
If the loser wants to be protected from prosecution, they have a larger responsibility not to be a criminal in the first place.

So, Djimmies, if she’s innocent of all of these “wild” charges, then what’s to worry about an investigation? Hmmmmmm? Enquiring minds want to know.

“Too big to fail”, “the winner may not prosecute clear crimes committed by their opponent and/or predecessor.”

Notice how everyone except we and Trump hold some sort of protection?

My take:

Insiders know that Hillary has been diagnosed with something that will be fatal within five years. Hence the plan is to hunker down and let the Grim Reaper take his course.

It’s not justice, but it’s the easy way out (and are any of us really surprised?)

Ah, yes: we should scrupulously avoid investigating or prosecuting any politicians who make tens of millions using their official offices or endanger national security through slimy deals with foreign powers. We should also respect the custom of ignoring incompetence of individuals who held high offices and failed in almost everything they did - because they failed to get elected President.

In fact, why hold anyone responsible, anyway?

Some people who can do anything, safe in the knowledge that they may not be prosecuted is the very definition of banana republic.

“HILLARY, COMEY AND MUELLER HAVE BEEN RULED TO BE ABOVE THE LAW-

END OF DISCUSSION!”

Perhaps end of discussion, but just the beginning of the 2nd and 3rd order consequences.

Like, for example, Joe Average saying to himself, “Gee, if those corrupt as Hell phucktards can get away with literal murder, and corruption on a scale that I can’t even dream of, then why should I obey the law? Why SHOULDN’T I break it wherever I think that I can get away with it?”

...and there goes your civilized society.

Not to corrupt pols: read your history - generally people like you get hung, shot or otherwise disposed of whenever you go too far...and you’re already well beyond that point.

The ‘norms’ were overturned by the Clintons, their cabal, and the cabal that was behind Obama’s rise to the Presidency. This mix of people, that includes those like Bill Ayers who are anti-American radicals who want to ‘fundamentally transform’ (sound familiar?) America, those like Hillary who are driven by a narcissistic need to be historical powerful figures (irrespective of the costs or whatever happens to those who get in the way), and shadowy international figures like Soros, who have a variety of motivations.

“Clinton and the Dems know that the “banana republic” accusation would be used to forestal any attempt to root out and bring corrupt officials to justice and thus they had a green light to be corrupt.”

That’s why I’m holding out hope that the rumors (thought it seems to be fact) of lots of sealed indictments are absolutely true, that there is going to be a massive sweep of suspects at a single point in time, and many start dropping info in fear of serious jail time.

That’s going to be the *only* way to nail the Clintons once and for all. If they only bring in Clinton and her 2016 associates from her failed POTUS campaign, then they’ll milk “Banana Republic” for all it’s worth. Hell, even Bill dropped the “dictator” word on some TV show recently. That’s a sign that they’re gearing up for a war using their buddies in the media.

If you make the arrests “big” in that the scumbags can’t chatter back and forth to get stories straight -AND- insure you’re arresting GOPe cronies at the same time (and I think it’s pretty evident there are many of those given the recent behavior in the House and Senate), you can help quell any of that “banana republic” nonsense early on.

What would *really* help is a big Dem name flipping ... the Clinton’s won’t go down easily (well, Bill might, Hillary too depending on the woman, but I mean “go to jail” easily) :-).

It’s a good theory.

She is too big to take down.

Both sides would come crumbling down

If anyone could say IF I GO DOWN YOU ALL GO DOWN..It’s Hillary.

Baraq 0bama and his regime have weaponized the entire federal government against conservatives. That is the main crime we should be looking at.

Banana republic? Like Chavez and Venezuela, the 0bama regime falsified evidence to obtain warrants to spy on the opposition candidate for President. That is fact.

The hope we have is Jesus, not a bunch of scuzzbum politicians and their ever changing antics.

Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing.

Indeed. This is a suckers game. There will always be another set of politicians promising justice, accountability and whatever else they think will get them elected. And they will never, ever deliver on those promises.

Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing.

Apparently you can’t “weaponize” The DOJ but it’s ok to weaponize The IRS and the EPA if you’re a rat.
