Women bear the heaviest brunt of global warming, and are less empowered to contribute to solutions. A new action plan agreed at the Bonn climate talks aims to reverse this inequality.
The women of the Marshall Islands and the Pacific have been fighting colonialism and injustice for a long time. They bore the brunt of the long term effects of nuclear testing, and women leaders like Lijon Eknilang and Darlene Keju-Johnson brought these issues to the international stage.
For women, fighting for justice including climate justice can be downright dangerous. Last year was one of the deadliest for women fighting on the frontlines for human rights and environmental justice. Environmental defenders are being killed at the rate of almost four a week across the world, a staggering toll that disproportionately affects female activists and indigenous leaders.
At the UN climate talks in Bonn, the cause of these courageous women is being amplified by a host of organisations working on gender and climate justice issues through the Women and Gender Constituency.
To make sure that all climate action will include gender equality, the governments will agree on a Gender Action Plan. In the next two years, the plan will aim to increase the number of female climate decision-makers, train male and female policymakers on bringing gender equality into climate funding programmes, and engage grassroots and indigenous womens organisations for local and global climate action.

do people actually get paid to write this nonsense?
"...all climate action will include gender equality..."
That tired old cliche just won't work anymore....the U.N. won't clean up the memberships tribal and cultural non-equality....again the USA has done, again, an admirable job....the UN can't even or won't censure N. Korea for dangerous ambitions i.e., nuclear threats.
Wow. How could the entire world get infected with such staggering idiocy in such a short amount of time? Not that long ago, the free World was in an existential battle against the Axis powers, then spent decades rebuilding the ruins and devastation of WW II, then defeating communism. Now this?
These daily blatherings really make it seem like we are doomed in ways the Nazis, Fascists, and Commies never dreamed of.
A surprising bit of honesty. The movement isn’t about the best way to stop warming.
All sorts of groups can (and do) attach themselves to “the movement”. It’s a man-made host which all types of parasites can feed off for whatever agenda they want: Wealth redistribution; Gender equality; Carbon brokers; “Scientists”. So much money, attention and power to go around. Anyone can join the party by just agreeing to believe.
Saul Alinsky.
Here is an example of extreme journalism masking activism. Read that sentence a few times. What is it trying to say? First, there is only an implied premise, and a false one at that. Second, what/who is an "environmental defender"? What is considered a "staggering toll"? Killed is a specific term implying they are being murdered because of...defending the environment? Then there is the FACTUALLY stated supposition that somehow females and "indigenous leaders" are victims of all the aforementioned conditions and issues.
Liberals bring linguistic artistry to incredibly imaginative levels. Hitler could only dream of propaganda delivered with this level of prowess.
Why did men ever give women the right to vote?
Seems to me that they want to involve as many people as possible who know as little as possible about the subject so as to be able to sway the outcome as much as possible.
The women of the Marshall Islands and the Pacific have been fighting colonialism and injustice for a long time. And, y'know, imaginary sealevel rise is all part of the racist sexist white privileged colonialist patriarchy injustice hegemony.
