The original Trump campaign tax plan is the right one
Washington Post ^ | Nov 15, 2017 | Stephen Moore

Democrats attacking the Trump tax cut have primarily voiced two objections: first, that it is a tax cut for the rich. And second, that it will blow a hole in the deficit. If Republicans get smart, they can squash both of these arguments — and strike a blow for a much more ambitious, once-in-a-generation tax reform than the plans now on the table in the House and Senate.

To do so, they should revisit an idea that was central to the original Trump campaign plan that Larry Kudlow and I helped to craft. In every meeting, Donald Trump told us he didn’t want a tax cut “for rich people like me.” So we solved this problem by putting a global cap of $150,000 on all deductions and credits. Under this approach, no deductions (such as for home mortgage interest or charitable contributions) would be eliminated from the tax code. But families whose write-offs exceeded the limit would have to pick and choose which ones to use.

Stephen Moore is reasonable and trustworthy, from what I can tell.

As do I!

So WHY has Trump just dumped this on Congress, SANS HIS PLAN, and allowed both Houses to really screw this up? If it's REALLY so important to him, then WHY isn't he fighting for his plan/sending surrogates to bedevil the Congress critters?

Trump knows his plan is DOA and that Congress will fumble butt any other tax plan to the point that it won't pass either. Leaving it tabled at least doesn't have it decorated with a ton of crap then defeated so when it comes up another year people will think it's the same bill regurgitated.

I am extremely disappointed in our Republican Congress.

Me too.

The problem 9just guessing) is probably that it would make “charitable” giving less attractive ‘tax-wise’.
I put charitable in quotes because many charities are political/educational/ideological fronts.
A tax dodge, a grift: something donors pay big for.

IIRC Rockefeller died of a heart attack on top of a secretary employed by his “charitable” art foundation LOL!

Almost like we need an outsider that isn’t indebted to the Republican Senate PAC. Hmmmm. Who could we find that would be an independent strong conservative who isn’t bowing to the republican senate leadership? Whoever was like that would be a threat showing others the way in getting into office without compromising (disposing) their values, Hummmmm I’m thinking but having a mental block of anyone willing to oppose McConnel, McCain power central. Maybe I will phone a friend to get a hint. I have this buddy, Roy, who might have some insight.

Fuck the RNC.

Remove those rose colored glasses...PLEASE!

Trump told them that he wants a Tax Bill on his desk, before Christmas, that it has to lower the Corporation rate, and went on to other things.

I've been if not THE first poster here to be for trump, in the top three, so please don't come back at me with some stupid reply.

Hopefully this mess will not pass both Houses and wind up on Trump's desk, with him signing it, just so he can say that SOMETHING was done for us and it's the "GREATEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT HE CAN GIVE US"; as he did before it! And frankly, that IS the "best" we can hope for. :-(

Will THAT happen?

I really don't know.

I have a sinking feeling that some HORRIBLE thing will get cobbled together and put on his desk...eventually.

LOL

Trump told them that he wants a Tax Bill on his desk, before Christmas . . .

There aren't many things he could have said to make damn sure no bill is passed than that he wanted one before Christmas.

Your memory is faulty!

Yes, Rockefeller died of a heart attack.

No, NOT on top of an aide, who had NO connection, at all, with the Rockefeller Foundation! IIRC she worked with him on an "arts" committee/something to do with MOMA.

And just WHY are you posting about this and laughing at it to boot? That's just sick!

If you were any more politically clueless, you'd be a Millennial Bernie supporter!

Sadly, as a political naif, with mordantly brain dead advisers, no knowledgeable pol friends, Trump is trying to do things as he did in business...which doesn't work in D.C.!

Trump has told Congress what he wants.

Ryan and the Turtle hate him and are doing things their way, which means F'ing everything up; giving him NOTHING.

And so, Trump has NO, none, zilch, nada things to tout, that has come out of D.C.! Sure it makes Congress look terrible, but it doesn't do anything to help Trump either.

You're a barrel of laughs. No reason, no rational discussion, straight to ad hominem attacks.

It's usually Never Trump Social Justice Parasites who go that route. Are you sure you're on the right site?

This congress is not going to give Trump what we wants.

He’s going to get the typical hot mess that congress usually passes. Like most before him he will likely sign it.

With McCain announcing he's voting against it that's three Republicans in the Senate who have stated they'd vote against it. IOW, it's DOA in the Senate.

Arguing over whether Trump would take whatever came out of the butt of the pigs in Congress is just stupid. How much effort did he put into having it brought to a vote unaltered?

When he couldn't even get Obamacare repealed in spite of trying to play nice with Congress by taking either "reform" or a straight up repeal, he gave up on getting anything out of Congress until he can beat up on Republicans during the mid-term election.

Gosh, doesn't it make ya misty when Jeff "Dr Evil" Bezos' Smear Machine, the Washington ComPost, allows Trump tax plan coauthor Stephen Moore some column inches? And just where were they during the 2016 campagin, and what did they say then about that very same proposal? Thanks 11th_VA.
