2017: ICE agents rebel, say Trump ‘betrayed’ them by retaining Obama’s people

The country’s immigration enforcement officers launched a website Tuesday demanding that President Trump do more to clean up their agency, saying he has left the Obama team in place and it’s stymying his goal of enforcing laws on the books.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement supervisors in Philadelphia banned officers from wearing bulletproof vests during an operation in the dangerous “badlands” section in the city’s north for fear of offending the immigrant community.

Meanwhile, officers in one Utah city are required to give city officials seven days’ heads-up before arresting anyone — and by the time they go to make the arrest, the immigrants they are targeting have taken off, the website says.

Compiled by the National ICE Council, which represents ICE officers, the website is part whistleblower and part primal scream for Mr. Trump to pay attention to a group of people who were among his staunchest backers during the presidential campaign.

“ICE Officers grudgingly admit that the only President they ever endorsed hasn’t kept his word, and many officers now feel betrayed,” the officers say on the website.

National ICE Council President Chris Crane, in an open letter to Mr. Trump, posted on the site, said he finds himself regularly having to defend the president to ICE officers who backed Mr. Trump during the campaign but now feel “stab[bed] in the back” by the administration.

Mr. Crane said those around the president — whom he doesn’t name — appear to be trying to shield him from hearing about the continued struggles at ICE.

“While officers view the President’s position on enforcement as courageous, the Trump administration has left all of the Obama managers and leadership in place, a group that ICE Officers know after the last eight years to be completely incompetent, corrupt and anti-enforcement,” Mr. Crane wrote.

I've seen troopers on the interstate wearing bullet proof vests while talking to drivers of cars pulled over for speeding. I don't see anyone worried about offending Joe average citizen.

They should be wearing them whenever they are in a dangerous situation.

This gives me hope about ICE and we need to pray that Trump would correct this *oversight* and let them do their job.

President Trump has made some good changes regarding: America's world standing; Judicial appointments; de-regulation; Executive Orders; The Wall; devasting ISIS, and other issues. I don't get why he has made so many bad choices regarding Cabinet members and bureaucracy leadership and just not fired many of Obami's left-overs. He has the authority. Plus, like Obama who set precedence, he should just ignore some shopped Judge who disagrees with with his EO's. Obambi even ignored a USSC ruling. Trump has always had the reputation of hiring the best in his civilian life.

I know that the GOPe is fighting him to maintain their power and perks, but he has the Executive branch power to fire anyone for any cause, as he did with Comey. If he's now concerned about a second term, I say let let him drain the swamp and be a one term president. It would take years for the Dims to undo what he can change by, "Stroke of a pen, law of the land" according to a Dim operative (forgot name).

I'm becoming dismayed that he's not keeping many of his campaign promises. I get that once in the Oval Office, campaign issues get very complicated in the Swamp of DC. Still, he has the most power in DC. He needs to fire so many, including Ivanka and her husband.

Yes, I voted for him and yes, I still have hope than he will make changes. HOWEVER, when the head of the ICE union states out loud that Trump is failing them, I tend to believe him having been an anti-illegal alien proponent since the 80's.

Mr. President replace many in your Cabinet. If you won't, you'll watch our Republic go down because of your failure to fire so many socialist leftovers from the Obambi administration. First, fire Sessions. He is a nice man who goes along to get along. I don't believe for a second he has some super scooby-do investigation going behind scenes. I really hope some day I was wrong about that.

I believe it's a combination of people, Congressional malfeasance, and that he was naive thinking he could run the Executive Branch as a CEO:

FIRST DAY: All entrenched Obami hold-overs would be fired, union or not. Reagan did with the ATC and life went on. Ivanka and Jared would also be fired.
SECOND DAY: Evaluate my Cabinet and fire those who don't follow my directives/policies explicitly or have made liberal statements of late.
THIRD DAY: I would talk to true and tried battle experienced Generals/Admirals, including many Colonels and Captains who understand real-world threats on a daily basis.
FOURTH DAY: DHS and its various agencies would be scrutinized and audited. Sessions and Mcabe would be gone. I'd have my staff review the best most honorable FBI agents and promote anyone capable of fulfilling the Director slots who still believes in the law of the land, with no exceptions for the elite.
FIFTH DAY: I would instruct every department/agency to ignore any Judicial rulings that cross the line of the separation of powers. Obama set the precedence.
SIXTH DAY: I would tell China in no uncertain terms, either deal with the Norks or punitive tariffs will be so severe, you will lose your main consumer nation. Think of the production factories that would spring up if we didn't have cheap China products in Walmart.
SEVENTH DAY: I'd take a break and enjoy my beautiful family.

STARTING MONDAY NEXT WEEK: I would hold a Cabinet meeting in the situation room to see how much has been done so far. If not satisfied, ALL will be given one more week and then fired if they don't produce results.
DAYS AFTER THE FIRINGS: GOPe and Dims will have their hissy-fits and call me a dictator. I then go on prime time TV to explain in detail why this has occurred and the Constitutional authority I have.

I could actually write the speech beginning with Congress being dysfunctional and why it is from years of socialist leaning and why it never works. People (especially snowflakes) need to understand why capitalism works and socialism/communism/collectivism never works.

I'll give the speech a shot, but all are included to try. Just keep it factual, cordial, and addressing the problems and solutions. Let's pull such a Oval Office announcement together and send it to the WH Comms Director for review. Maybe we could form a committee to edit/finalize the announcement and have it reviewed by someone we all trust before forwarding. Any takers?

BTW, my bona fides include Navy admin writing experience; writing and talking with a union; my customers in 3 companies; and being the Lead Coordinator for the "March For Justice" way back for the first Free Republic event in DC. I'm also a geo-political junkie. I may not be an expert on every daily political situations (so many), and that's why I'd like to form committee. Probably should make this a separate article.

I spent 25 years in the Border Patrol as an agent, supervisor and manager. If anyone ever gave me such an order I would not have followed it. Why? Because supervisors and managers do NOT have the authority to make such an order.

Management does not even have authority to order agents to wear their vests if they don't want to. Its an agents decision if he feels the need to wear the vest.

I would have told these jerks to pound sand because there is nothing they could do to me for violating an order they had no authority to issue.
