A neighbor of mine is retired but still teaches a course at U. of Maryland. He mentioned to me UM has closed several dorms and converted them into hotel rooms. The reasoning being more students were going on-line for their education which still required the students to do only two weeks of campus teaching.
State schools will probably lead the way as legislatures recognize the potential for big savings.
