Who Should Be TIME's Person of the Year for 2017?

Since 1927, TIME Magazine has chosen a “Person of the Year,” defined as a person (or people) who has had the most influence over the news in the last 12 months.

In 2016, the Person of the Year was Donald J. Trump, who upended the political world after unexpectedly defeating his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton to become the President of the United States. The year before, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was named Person of the Year after she led Europe through a series of political and economic crises.

Many of 2017’s biggest headlines were a reflection of the year that preceded it. After President Trump was inaugurated in January, both the U.S. and the world began adjusting to a new administration and a new President who wanted to undo much of his predecessor’s legacy, whether that meant withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement or working to revamp the nation’s healthcare system. Warnings from the intelligence community that Russia was attempting to wage an interference campaign in the 2016 election escalated into a major investigation helmed by former FBI Director Robert Mueller; the inquiry has already resulted in indictments against two former Trump campaign officials. In another major news story of 2017, sexual harassment and misconduct allegations against powerful figures like Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and comedian Louis C.K. sparked a long overdue conversation about the treatment of women in the workplace.

TIME’s editors ultimately have jurisdiction over who is deemed Person of the Year — but the reader plays an important role. TIME’s annual Person of the Year poll provides the editors a window into who you think most shaped 2017. This is your chance to cast your vote for who you think had the biggest influence over the news.

While I think Time’s Person of the Year is a joke of the first order, if they don’t give Trump a consecutive accolade, Time isn’t a serious publication. It says so right here!

Well it's TIME, so I figure it will be either the biggest idiot, socialist or murder. Unless they can find someone who fits the trifecta, a murdering socialist idiot. Can the bring back, Che, or Castro, but then there's Maduro and Little Kim.

Maybe they will just go with a wacko like Hillary, Mad Maxine or someone of alphabetical gender disorder.

But mostly I'm leaning towards who gives a

I think Bannon would be a great second, if Trump were not to get it.

Nobody agreed with me though. Well 5% did. LOL

77% of the poll takers agreed with my take on things. That's not bad considering. Folks seemed fairly savvy on some folks. On others, wow...

Hillary was getting a big goose-egg, and other prominent Leftists media and otherwise were too.

So who did folks most back for the Person of the year?

Here was the number one choice, Emma Stone. She got something like 90% (or more). LOL. I guess she's getting a lot of the 14 year old blind hair on their palms vote, from bedrooms across America.

As for person of the year? Seriously? LOL

Okay she is a pretty woman in some shots. Can't deny that.

TIME’s Man of the Year has always been Karl Marx.

Not true.

Henry Luce founded Time as a conservative newsweekly in 1923. It died as such in the 1960's.

Is it an honor? Consider that Adolf Hitler was their Man of the Year in 1938. Stalin was their Man of the Year in 1939 and again in 1942. Even further to the Left were MOTYs Obama and Clinton.

No it’s not necessarily an honor, but a recognition of the biggest newsmaker. Ayatollah Khomeini won it in 1979 due to the Iranian revolution and hostage crisis.

Time had considered Bin Laden in 2001 due to the September 11th attacks, but instead gave it to Rudy Giuliani in honor of his leadership in the aftermath of the attacks. I think people thinking that they were honoring Bin Laden was a bridge too far for Time.
