this is silly...if the authorities want anything, they still need a warrant, can’t they easily get a suspects saliva directly?

You think that they don’t have access to the databases in every existing lab?

The Labs may not even know it.

No kidding! I said in prior posts here that this will eventually be used to deny/reduce/increase prices of medical care and/or insurance based on your DNA results.

“Sorry, Mr. Smith. According to your DNA profile, you have a 75% probability of getting cancer when you are 70. Yes, we know you are only 50 right now, but...”

Before long Google will have it all in their “big data” database. The founder of 23andMe was married to the founder of Google.

I believe I read that the Military is taking DNA samples (to ID bodies if need be).

Correct.

In 1985, a plane crashed with members of the 101st on board, and 284 were killed.

And, they were all hand carrying their dental records. Dental records were to be how the military indentified burnt bodies.

The dental records (or most of them) were also burnt.

After that, the military started collecting DNA on all its members. If you served since 1990, they probably already have yours.

Likewise, if you took a physical for a certain job, or you are nurse, or a person who does childcare, they may already have yours as well.

I did the 23 and Me. Personally, I am not bothered by the fact that someone has my DNA in a different database. The US Govt already had it on file.

My bet is they sell it to CODIS.

But I’m certainly not going to pay Ancestry.com $99 to give my DNA to whomever.

I spent close to 25 years trying to find my Grandparents ancestors. Because of a couple of spelling errors on census and the fact the 1890 census was destroyed I could not with any certainty trace my Grandparents back further than 1900

A DNA test brought up cousins, and when the trees were matched there they were.

So the cost of the DNA test was worth it for me.

As for being on file, if they want me they will get me. I have not moved in 40 years.

(Interesting side note - I recently signed up for the post office feature that emails me photo of the mail. Anyway to prove I was who I said I was they asked what street I lived on before the one I am currently living on. They have in their records where I lived 40 years ago. That should get you thinking)

This sucks I was going to check to make sure I was indeed a member of the Master Race. Parents say German and Welsh, and I do believe my great grandfather on father’s side immigrated from Wales. My mother’s maiden name is a city in Germany. However my mother’s grandfather appears to have married an American Indian of some kind (whatever was in Ohio). That could mess things up a bit.

I guess with these good looks and what the parents tell me I know from whence I came!!!

HaHa

The least trusty source of information is you close relatives - they all have an agenda.

And millions of fools have Facebook accounts with extensive self-updated profiles. TOTAL IDIOCY!

Facebook is nothing more than an international surveillance/profiling database for the Deep State with faux entrepreneur Zuckerberg as their chief covert operative.

Funny thing is, people seem more than eager to feed the Deep State with just the information they seek.

Activity summaries, photos, family tree, friends and personal profiles not enough? Hey, here, here's my DNA profile!

The legislature (State and Federal) has granted the bureaucratic leviathan free rein to create thousands of rules with the force of law, including felonies. Tax law, employment law, environment and on infinitum. As far as getting a warrant, some bureaucracies can get a so called administrative subpoena that doesn’t require a judge, only a legal staff member of that agency.

It’s wise to be wary of who gets your personal info, especially healthcare data. Maybe the government will use their junk science to show that your DNA is consistent with a genetic disorder that makes you more likely to commit a crime thus justifying gun confiscation, for your safety and the safety of the community of course.

I am very careful with what I discuss with any of my doctors. Quite frankly, I don’t trust any of them with any personal information outside of what they themselves generate in the performance of their duties as my doctor. Furthermore, I am very careful to peruse the “dossier” that Doctor’s Inc. now compile on me, because the day will come when Medicare says: “You’ve had enough, we can no longer ‘afford’ to care for you, time for you to go!”

“So? They still need a warrant. This is a silly article.”

My reaction, as well. Read the entire article, and it turns out to be merely anther “made up” reason for fear.

I have provided my DNA to 2 testing companies. My sister and my mother have, as well.

The science is entirely solid. The relations that were provided to them were accurate, and interesting.

A recent technology called “rapid dna” is used to identify battlefield remains, so we can honor our fallen heroes.

DNA is used to exonerate suspects, as well as to convict them.

DNA for medical purposes is moving very fast. My wife’s SIL just had a cancer surgery, is undergoing chemo, and they used DNA testing as part of their methodology.

The people who supply their DNA to companies advertising on TV are about as smart as the criminals who come to the events hosted by the cops in classic sting operations. Watch the commercials and the actors indicate what the target audience is. 98% likely D voters.

For most of us it would be a waste of time and money by legal people requesting our DNA. We don’t commit serious crimes.

There is a scarier and potentially more dangerous problem re super rich evil guys/gals wanting a genetic cure or to shave some years off body parts with matching stem cells, organs, and basic DNA.

23andMe and probably the Ancestry DNA could reveal to a DNA PHD working with a Dr Frankenstein, re whom to sacrifice for their body, organs, DNA and stem cells to a rich and ailing Opecker, a super rich DNC donor, Soros family member or the Clintons or their aging thugs.

That would really be scary, and they could be doing it now.

GCHQ, the Brit version of NSA has probably hacked their data bases and shared this info with their US counterparts.

You want to know what is scary? Even if you do everything in your power to keep your DNA out of their data base, one of your siblings can submit a sample. A close match to one they are looking for would lead them to you.

This happened to us. After some long discussions not to do this, a sibling submitted their DNA to one of the big 3 DNA collectors.

We and earlier ancestor hunters had basically traced our families back to the 1600/1700's or earlier. We had no surprises ancestor name/data wise when the DNA report came back. Nor were there any surprises race/ethnicity wise.

However, there is now a DNA trail of all us now and those in the future. For those of us past our 60's, no problem. Who knows for our younger generations and those to come.
