Dismiss Russian tech profiency at your own peril.
Russians have different sensibilities, apparent in the 1980’s jet comparisons, among many other examples.
The American jet fighter needed to take off from a relatively pristine runway, and many components were produced in clean rooms with subsequent enhanced maintenance requirements.
Russian jet fighters, while only 80% the capability of American jet fighters, could take off from crappy, littered runways, and maintenance usually consisted of a 17 year old banging on a malfunctioning part with a ball-peen hammer.
It’s never been about technical incompetence, the Russians were far advanced in meltergy throughout the early 19th century.
It was and is still now management philosophy.
It was the political implications of success or failure for the managers. Prime example, the Chernobyl plant was, by design, to have a roof of non-flammable materials. Those materials weren’t availible, the project was falling behind. Bonuses were in play. Chose the lessor material or be replaceed and surely your successor will chose the inferior flammable materials.
So’ they chose the flammable bituminous materials for the roofing, to meet the schedule. And every fire fighter that went on that roof the night of the disaster, to the man, died putting out the fires. But, the construction supervisor got his bonus.
Hey Laz.
I just can’t put my finger on any time in history where Soviet/Russian weapons have bested American weapons. They say that the S-400 SAM’s are formidable, but has an American plane actually ever been fired upon by one of these?
We only have history to go by. In every conflict to date where Soviet weapons have actually challenged ours, we have bested them by a long shot.
These were all proxy wars for sure, and maybe the Soviets didn’t give their best weapons to their proxy allies. But maybe we didn’t either. ;)
And this is just the tactical environment. In the strategic forces, like aircraft carriers or submarines, or space-based weapons, the Soviets/Russians have always been hopelessly outclassed by us, and they always will be.
This release of radiation is of no consequence. However it should be noticed when a great disaster that was Chernobyl occurred the Russians lied like hell and back about it. I guess we got lucky this time.
Russia lies.
Likely that’s the same plant were paper-suited, gloveless workers processed the plutonium manually in the early days...
‘’’’We only have history to go by. In every conflict to date where Soviet weapons have actually challenged ours, we have bested them by a long shot.’’’’
Iran-Iraq?
India-Pakistan?
“Almost 30 years on from the fall of the Iron Curtain, Mayak is closed to foreigners and surrounded by barbed wire.
If tomorrow, anywhere in the western world, read civilized world, radiation was 900+ times background we would know why, where, how in 24 hours.
But, its the Japanese that arent forthcoming.
At best your a troll”
Actually I’m a dwarf all 5’6” of me. So Fukushima Japan had a little radioactive problem a few years ago. This was in the news briefly at best. No news or media coverage must mean there is no problem. Our government and other governments are responsible for covering this issue. How in the name of GOD do you have a blown Nuclear reactor and no radiation out put??? In the news, was the dying of robots to find the core , due to melting.
At best I’m a troll for asking how Japan is doing? Are you BRAIN DEAD?
My Comment: “Wonder where Japan sits currently? Am pretty sure that information is not public.”
Latest articles that I can find indicate a potential problem with radiation, go figure. Here are the top 3 that come up on my browser (Do you work for the US government in regards to this issue?):
