Sen. Al Franken apologized on Thursday amid allegations that the Minnesota Democrat had groped women at campaign events admitting that he crossed a line in some instances when embracing constituents.
The Minnesota Democrat, accused by four women of creepily touching them, issued his most detailed statement yet in explaining how he made such unwanted contact.
Ive met tens of thousands of people and taken thousands of photographs, often in crowded and chaotic situations. Im a warm person; I hug people, according to Franken.
Ive learned from recent stories that in some of those encounters, I crossed a line for some women and I know that any number is too many. Some women have found my greetings or embraces for a hug or photo inappropriate, and I respect their feelings about that.
Franken has yet to grant a formal interview to any reporter, since groping allegations were made against him.
Ive thought a lot in recent days about how that could happen, and recognize that I need to be much more careful and sensitive in these situations, according to his statement.
I feel terribly that Ive made some women feel badly and for that I am so sorry, and I want to make sure that never happens again.
The former Saturday Night Live funnyman vowed to win back trust of his state, implying hes not stepping down from the seat hes held for 2 terms.
And let me say again to Minnesotans that Im sorry for putting them through this and Im committed to regaining their trust, Franken said.

He wrote that he lied when he was first running for office just so he could become a senator. He is lying now.
Difference being there is proof regarding Al....nine regarding Moore.
Too late. You need to resign.Naa...please STAY RIGHT THERE, Mr. Franken. As long as youre there, Roy Moore has a clear path to the Senate. After the election in 19 days, then yes, lets dump him!
Heck no, we gotta start playing for keeps. Franken must stay there as long as possible. I posted this earlier ...
There is zero tactical advantage to removing him or having him resign. The leftist Governor will just appoint another, worse ( new and as yet untarnished ) leftist in his place. Probably a female, maybe a Muslim, someone they consider untouchable. Net gain ZERO, at best a wash but possibly a further loss to our current situation.
There is zero strategic advantage as well. Franken's seat isn't up for full-term election until 2020. There is more to be gained by having that rotten dirtbag still in place until then, as the face of the (D)ummycrat party and making that seat truly gainable during Trump's re-election campaign. If they appoint a replacement or have a special election, that new person becomes the incumbent. With Franken on the ballot ( pray! ), there will be many down-ticket voters showing up just to get rid of him, perhaps enough to flip Minnesota to Trump since it was extraordinarily close last time.
Remember Bob Packwood sticking around and becoming the face of the then-hapless (R)epublicrats, even made it into popular culture like Married With Children and the like. That seat still fell to the enemy despite the otherwise successful Gingrich revolutionary juggernaut. ( And yeah I know what he did was nothing compared to Kennedy/Dodd/Biden and all the other corrupt (D)ummies ).
Point is, if he leaves now, the (D)ummycrats are way better off, not us. The longer that Franken and Conyers stick around the more mileage we get dirtying up the left. In short, today is too soon for them to leave because they get to pick replacements and flush them down the memory hole in the short attention span minds of most sheeple. C'mon folks, we gotta play hardball!
Bingo. Exactly right. You beat me to it. See below #63 ( I think )
That isn’t what politicians do?
Nope, there are creepy huggers. I know two of them & stay away. Wont go near them without my husband being present.
Spot on wager the boys even play with their pocket rocket when no woman is around to grab.
I guess I’m old school on hugging. I never hug any female unless she’s a relative. I don’t hug guys - that’s what handshakes are for. (Exceptions made for my young sons back in the day and for young grandsons.) Physical contact is not needed to create close relations.
"...Senator Al Franken..."
...Some women have found my greetings or embraces for a hug or photo inappropriate, and I respect their feelings about that. ...
It’s not you, it’s me.
See, my brain is shot. I cannot differentiate between campaign events and bordello’s. I only have one move, go for the T or A or both.
President Trump was right, these pedowood types are conditioned to “grab them by the p****”
