Its been nearly two months, and a geologic age, since The New York Times ran its initial report on Hollywood producer Harvey Weinsteins sexual predation.
Its difficult to think of any piece of journalism that has ever wrought such an instant change in American life. First, more allegations against Weinstein flooded in, and then against other Hollywood, media and political figures, many of them rapidly defenestrated upon credible allegations of sexual misconduct.
A heightened awareness around sexual harassment is roiling multiple industries in what is a low-grade cultural revolution.
Any revolution has its pitfalls. There will be false allegations that will be believed. There will be a conflation of relatively minor infractions with criminal acts. And, in all likelihood, there will be an over-correction that will create its own wrongs. But a model of predation practiced by unscrupulous powerful men is getting destroyed before our eyes, and its a very good thing.
The model worked like this: Men with a certain prestige would make gross, aggressive or even coercive advances on lower-status women, usually young and making their starts in their careers. The men probably considered it a percentage play. Sometimes, their advances might work for their purposes. If not, they assumed that the women would stay silent out of embarrassment or fear. Failing that, the women could be discredited or bought off.

I'm not aware of any change whatsoever that has rent American life in the wake of the emergence into the light of what everyone has known is true since Mario Puzo wrote about it in The Godfather, fifty years ago.
The only people who experienced an instant change have been the slimy, privileged, entitled scumbags who were the perpetrators. I suppose they are important to "American Life," if Mr. Lowry believes in some sort of Continuity of Government that covers the media and entertainment elites, many of whom prefer to see themselves of citizens of The Great Altogether, mere America being much too full of Deplorables to suit their refined tastes.
Hillary Clinton knowingly defended her husband’s abusive and offensive behavior and attacked those women who spoke out.
It would’ve been HELL for her scampaign in 2016 if she’d been on defensive on this issue last year.
They didn’t even speak out during the pinkpussyhat rebellion of early 2017.

Good. Game over, pervs in EVERY line of work! Women and girls (and boys) arent going to stand for it any more no matter WHO you are!!!!
Based on Hilary Clinton’s hatred for the male sex, it would seem she should have ‘recollections’ of being accosted or groped by dozens of perverts.
Oh, never mind;)
EVERY article about this seems to have to include that mandatory poke at Roy Moore for “balance”. And this author is of course wrong in his prognostication. As soon as the heat wave is over, this kind of behavior will resume, especially among powerful Democrats. They’re special, you know.
There’s an easy escape—the perv donates money to the DNC.
I cannot believe that NYT would publish such a a thing if the decision to open this up had not already been made by some sort of agreement among the Ruling Class movers and shakers- the money men like Soros and Steyer. It is likely due to a determination that the Democrat Party, as it is divided between the True Left and the Clintons cannot survive as a major Party and the Clintons have to be excised. The Clintons probably have to tight a grip to be directly opposed but the Sex Stuff provides a weapon that can be used indirectly that the “feminists” would go with if used indirectly. Weinstein wasa an obvious first strike and opened up the possibility to dreg the Clintons into that mess because their sex sins are very well known throughout the society even if not officially acknowledged. I wonder how the Clintons are fighting back or will fight back as surely they must. I am waiting for an increase in the incidence of accidental and medical deaths among prominent opponents to increase.
What was the original article that accused Weinstein?
I did not think it was in the NYTs.
“.....a model of predation practiced by unscrupulous powerful men is getting destroyed before our eyes, and its a very good thing.”...
Obviously you discount the massive payoffs made by our own government to save some politicians behind. The American people need to DEMAND who was “bailed out” using OUR money.
The NYTs and the New Yorker published the story at almost the same time.
The lead reporter for the NYTs was Jodi Kantor.
The reporter for the New Yorker was Ronan Farrow.
I thought Farrow wrote the first story, but while the investigations were overlapping, the NYTs story came out one day earlier.
99% of the rapists, gropers, assault women reported are democrats.

Can you imagine a place where Hollywood types and rich executives from around the world can gather in one place and have sex with underage boys and girls without any interference from any governments or parents? http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2017/11/todays-blind-items-island.html
Back in the mid-80’s was peak child molesting time in Hollywood. There was no internet. There were very very few mobile phones. Children came to the set where they were left alone by their parents. http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2017/11/todays-blind-items-molesters-killed-her.html
