“I must forgive,” parents offer forgiveness to suspected drunk driver who killed Utah teen

Less than 48 hours after the death of their teen son in a Taylorsville crosswalk, the Harsh family has a message for the woman accused of driving drunk and killing him.

“The first thought that came to me was, we need to let her know we have no bad feelings,” Lemuel Harsh told 2News Friday afternoon. “She needs to know, and we’re pretty safe in saying Robert would want this.”

The woman that Lemuel and Gina Harsh forgive is Roxanna Molina, 27, who was arrested after fleeing from the Cadillac Escalade that hit Robert Harsh, 19, the night before Thanksgiving.

I’m sorry for your loss. My neice is struggling with cancer in her late teens. They think they got it, but now she’s getting into drugs and all that. She’s a constant source of concern.

You are right - forgiving can be very hard but it is also a cleansing of our own spirit.

I find it helpful to pray once a day for two weeks that those who have betrayed me are given the best that life and God has to offer and that my own heart be relieved of the angst of resenting them.

And the sad thing is that there are those who feel as you do trying to tell us about Scripture.

How did Jesus respond when asked how many times we should forgive someone?

For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.” 21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22Jesus answered, “I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy-seven times!…

Where did that come from but the Old Testament where one wanted to wreak vengeance 7 time what what done to him....

If you're gonna use Scripture, don't cherry pick - it is non-productive and suited to those who wish to only use that which feels right for their own personal feelings. It is bearing false witness to the very Scripture one tries to use to justify one's own shortcoming.

Our human hearts are pretty vile at times and so many try to forgive their own inadequacies by pointing out half-truths with disregard to what Jesus preached - while calling ourselves Christians....ironic.

People who forgive before the sinner repents are more magnanimous than God, who doesn’t forgive until the sinner repents.
Exactly.

I forgive you for your very mean-spirited insinuation.

I suppose this is a nice gesture for the parents if it helps them deal with it. Wonder how they will feel if Molina says that she does not give a 5h1t that she killed their son?

Molina admitted to having “shots and several beers” before she got behind the wheel of her Escalade.

We should ban this dangerous drug.

Thank you. I hope it made you feel better.

May God pour out His blessings on you and if He has some left over, I'd be grateful if He would also anoint me.

I see by your Freep page you ride a bike. I hope when you are are run over, it’s by a white person and not some “Mexican”.

Perhaps you have been hit by an illegal. That would explain your prejuduced posts.

Indeed

One can forgive but the person at fault needs to do what used to be called penance. Remorse is in there too

Too many liberals think that forgiveness means the person must be excused from consequences as well.
That’s why they push for forgiveness. By tying morality to feelings, they think if you aren’t angry/hurt anymore, they shouldn’t be punished for their actions.

“She is a murderer for starters. Is she legal?”

Don’t know but you can be sure that the local media will do their best to avoid telling you if that is the case. Salt Lake City is a sanctuary city. And the county sheriff was a sanctuary sheriff. Things got too hot for him I guess so he relocated to small town Moab.

I will then just assume she is illegal

...so he relocated to small town Moab.

Along with a few thousand California expats.

Christians are not required to forgive unless the sinner has truly repented and asked for forgiveness.

If the perp hasn’t done either then this is a decidedly un-Christian act.

Forgiveness isn’t a penny candy.

Well, they’re more forgiving of her than I would be if she’d killed one of my relatives.

The family needs to ask themselves, WWTSRD? (What Would Tolerance Sucks Rocks Do?)

Well, I’d make sure she got at least 20 years, then, if she’s illegal, deport her ass. If, sometime during that time, she indicates she is truly sorry, THEN I would forgive her.
