The simple answer is that Progressivism/communism/Socialism/Marxism are all Humanist ideologies. Humanism is the antithesis of Christianity.

The CoE, TEC, PCUSA, ELCA, UCC, and ABC are all Humanist organizations wrapped in cherry-picked verses from the bible that support their Social(ist) Gospel message. The UMC would gladly go Humanist except that their polity gives votes to Methodists in Africa, Asia, South America, and the SE USA so every four years, it votes to barely stay Christian.
