Mulvaney cracks down on CFPB as White House insists he's in control (Hiring freeze)
Fox News ^ | November 27, 2017 | Barnini Chakraborty

White House budget boss Mick Mulvaney moved quickly Monday to rein in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, imposing a 30-day hiring freeze and other new rules as the fight over who’s really in charge of the agency heads to court.

Mulvaney, whom President Trump chose to run the CFPB on a temporary basis, has a history of bashing the bureau and has called it a “sad, sick” joke.

He didn’t back away from those assertions Monday afternoon, describing the CFPB as “an awful example of a bureaucracy that has gone wrong and is almost entirely unaccountable.”

Mulvaney said he was surprised at the unchecked powers afforded to the bureau – including his.

“I am just finding out about the powers I have as acting director and they would frighten most of you,” he said. “It’s frightening to think about how little oversight Congress has over me now as I am the director.”

I agree, Judge Kelly is not stringing it out.

“Sounds like Trump/Mulvaney are kicking ass and taking no prisoners.”

GOOD...as long as Mulvaney is kept busy NOT working immigration-related issues, we’re safe. PBS has tapes of him literally pushing Obama’s MASSIVE Amnesty plan back in 2014 (when it very, very, nearly passed).

Hopefully Mulvaney LEARNED SOMETHING about Democrats from that, but I really don’t know.

It should have been found to be an unconstitutional assignment of Congress’ Article I Section 1 powers. But since the CFPB serves social justice it will go on, and with the blessing of Scotus.

Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee recently approved by the Senate. Kelly gave government lawyers until tonight to file their opposition to Leandra English’s request for a temporary restraining order.”

OMG Trump appointed Judge......"You have till TONIGHT to file opposing claim."

Mulvaney and the good Judge in charge are in the mold of Trump

Response is:

Direct

Instantaneous

and Devastating.

I have a niece that works at CFPB headquarters, I was chatting on Facebook with her a while ago about this. Trump and Mulvaney shot down Richard Cordray's attempted coup with ease. According to her, a large cadre of Whitehouse personnel swooped in late Sunday night, they changed everything from email to building access to the signs on the doors to make Mulvaney the one and only director.

When Cordray's "appointed" director Leandra English came in the next morning, she found her belongings moved out of the directors' office and her badge wouldn't even work to get into the directors hallway, she had been removed from director email access as well. The "coup" folks were caught completely off guard as they never thought Trump/Mulvaney would do something so brazen. Supposedly she stomped out in a fit of rage, threatening to sue (because having lost all access, she couldn't do much else).

According to my niece, while there are certainly a lot of hard core leftist at CFPB, there are significant number of "closet" Trump supporters as well. She said even some of the hard core leftist were impressed at how smoothly Mulvaney shot down the coup and took over smoothly like nothing had happened.

Well, if he’s also able to get a couple more SC justices, 100s of lawsuits can be brought forward, challenging the Constitutionality of most agencies and departments.

I’ll give you a very brief thought on this. I said much more yesterday, but it all boils down to this.

Trump is a CEO. He hires people to implement his policy. He always has and always will.

It makes no difference what Ivanka, Jared, or Mulvaney think.

They work for the CEO.

Mulvaney is off to a great start, but before we eliminate the CFPB, let’s use it for a couple years — maybe sic them on Mueller (he must be at least peripherally involved in financial things), and Soros, and Move On, and a bunch of things. Then we can get rid of the whole things once we’ve used it.

Thank you very much for your post and info, it’s most encouraging! Goes to show there are still some sane people in government.

Sounds to me like this Leandra English is a real piece of work besides being a leftist liberal RAT, she got what she deserved.

I’m not fully aware of it’s mandate.

I think the DOJ should be moving on things you just touched on.

Soros has > IMO < participated on felonious support of civil unrest and rioting resulting in death and hundreds of millions of property loss. He’s seditious IMO.

If nothing else, we should honor requests by other nations to extradite him so they can try him in a court of law.

Nations are standing in line to do it.

They will get an Obama friendly Judge that says President has no right to appoint the person. Then what happens?

That is true, and to be fair to Mulvaney, he hasn’t publicly pushed this Amnesty crap since Trump picked him up.

But it was simply FRIGHTENING...the guy knows Spanish well enough to communicate at a town hall (based on the PBS clips)...and like virtually every Republican who knows some Spanish, he was FRONT AND CENTER of the push the push for OBAMA’S Amnesty.

Watch the PBS show if you get a chance, it is FRIGHTENING! The ONLY THING that saved us from being a permanent minority in our own country was the defeat of Cantor, in June 2014.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/immigration-battle/

You’ll see Mulvaney trying to convince a bunch of his South Carolina supporters why we need 30 million new Democrats, in order for Republicans to remain a viable party. Go figure.

Why not just shut it down? It’s what they want to do.

It was created by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which would need to be repealed or amended. Good luck getting the GOP in Congress to ever get rid of a federal bureaucracy.

Somewhere around 100 is about what it needs to do it’s core job. Stripped of a director and any regulatory and investigatory powers and placed under the Treasury department.

As now, it’s designed to be a behemoth with regulatory powers and unanswerable as the Federal Reserve is. It’s inherent faulty design is that it would take over some cabinet level power from other Federal Departments.

I think I read this was the prime agency used by Obama to feed money back to liberal NGOs.
