Another former staff member for Rep. John Conyers alleged Tuesday the Michigan Democrat made unwanted sexual advances toward her multiple times. Serving as a deputy chief of staff at the time, Deanna Maher, 77, said Conyers stripped in front of her in a Washington hotel room in 1997.
"I was absolutely shaking, and he took off his clothes," Maher told CNN. "Then I figured out, 'Oh my god, what did I do? How stupid at my age that I walked in and got myself into a situation like that.'"
Maher, who was in her 50s at the time, told the Associated Press she "felt honored" to attend a three-day Congressional Black Caucus event with Conyers, but later discovered they would be sharing a two bedroom hotel suite.

Because now is a cash in time. Also, in return for money (career), she stayed in a hotel room with him. She got paid for her companionship back then. She sold her dignity, and she worked for that old communist.
She isn’t some babe in the woods. And was she married at the time? Did she tell hubby about her sleeping arrangments?
Because shes smart enough to become Deputy chief of staff. But we are to believe she was shocked and unable to cope with something as minor as saying, “you’re married and I need a private room”.
So she probably stayed for money.
Women who stay in a married mans motel room for money is the dictionary definition ...sport.

Besides, Conyers calculatedly hid his perversions behind his mask as a "civil rights icon."

I disagree with your characterization and your assumption.
The same thing is true of most of Weinstein's accusers, and about 90% of the recent wave of "sexual harassment and assault" accusations we've been hearing lately. I have no use for Conyers or for Weinstein, but I don't believe for a second that those making claims against them are the innocent victims they pretend to be. What were they doing in Conyers' motel room or in Weinstein's bedroom if they weren't at least considering the option of swapping sex for favors and advancement?
The article doesn’t say at the time if she was married. Maybe she wasn’t. You seem to be making a lot of assumptions.
At the least she could have gotten another room, eh ? Even if on my own dime, why put up with some shady crap that Conyers was trying to pull?
Even twenty years ago, Conyers would have been a sagging 68 old dude..

When my sisters were seniors in high school a long time platonic male friend was visiting and made the mistake of going into their bedroom and sitting on one of the beds. Door open, lights on, everybody fully clothed. My father happened by and before you know it, male friend is thrown out of the house, banned for life. Took mucho apologies and some time till he was allowed back in the fold. Still funny to me after all these years.
