Cancer Doctor Found Dead Following ‘Breakthrough’ Discovery

A New York Doctor was found murdered shortly after reporting a “breakthrough” discovery in the cure for cancer.

Dr. Miguel Crespo’s body was found in the bathroom of the Weill Cornell Medical Center on the Upper East Side where he worked, after having gone missing for several hours.

Police initially thought that Dr. Crespo had committed suicide by drug overdose after they found vomit next to his body and “foaming at his mouth.”

However, close friends and family say his death is suspicious, noting that Dr. Crespo had just made an exciting discovery in the field of cancer research and was unlikely to want to end his life at this pivotal stage in his career.

Crespo earned his doctoral degree at the Complutense University of Madrid and was researching a cure for colon cancer at the hospital.

Starting his research in 2011 in the UES stem cell lab, Dr. Crespo’s team had recently made a “breakthrough” discovery, according to one of the hospital’s staff;

“He was working late almost every night and seemed really excited.”He said he had made an amazing breakthrough.”

The hospital’s spokeswoman, Sarah Smith, told the New York Daily News:

“Weill Cornell Medicine is saddened by the death of our colleague Miguel Crespo, Ph.D.”

“We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.”

Daily Mail reports: Away from the hospital, Crespo was a part-time photographer and graphic designer.

On his website, his mission statement reads: ‘Throughout my life, I have relentlessly strived to capture the beauty in things I always felt the world has yet to discover – windows, shadows, reflections, the magic in the velvety light that projects on our eyes,’ he wrote on his photo design website.

‘I have always been mesmerized by the compassion, the emotion, and the meaning somebody’s look can convey and inspire.’

One of his neighbors Xoey Lee, 38, told NYDN he did not appear seem ill and said: ‘He’s always polite. He always says, “Hi”.’

Other articles suggest that what may have been drug paraphernalia were found nearby.

It looks like he was working on colon cancer...

Jerry Lewis tried to tell the MDA that selenium helped patients but they fired him. Leukemia, breast cancer, etc. are all big business and get too much money from fund raising.

Why would somebody want to kill a dude who can cure cancer.

Take this pill and your cancer will go away..., or Take this injection and you’ll never get cancer.

Either scenario means tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of scientist and doctors suddenly out of work. It would also mean that billions of dollars funneled towards cancer research would disappear.

None of that means he didn’t off himself. Ask any coroner about drug induced suicide there is often vomit next to the deceased.

Did he discover that his “breakthrough” was a bust?
That said it requires a complete investigation.

Thanks for letting us know which mineral it was. I heard a teaser some time back, but it never got specific.

That has the ring of truth to it. The autopsy should either confirm or refute it.

A tragedy any way it turns out.

Follow the money. If they had a cure, think of the impact on Social Security and Medicare. So who gets harmed the most?

If they had a cure, do you think they would withhold it from members of the establishment?

Yup.

Also possible it's just an overdose. Many medical professionals have big problems with this because of easy access.

"These guys are pretty anal about record keeping.."

In science, that sort of analness is a fundamental requirement. If his lab notebooks have been "disappeared" it will most definitely be foul play.

"If they had a cure, do you think they would withhold it from members of the establishment?"

But remember who owns members of the establishment. Not a smart idea.

"Oh sure thing because all medical examiners are corrupt"

If you are talking government involvement, that's the way to bet. From top to bottom, ALL people are in government to prosper.

Consider: Congress slug Conyers spent 52 YEARS in office, and somehow became a millionaire. I'm willing to extend a little supposition that he wasn't honest...

Your comments here are truly disgusting.

This is in the hospital complex on Lenox Hill; I know many of the people who work there, especially across the street at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

You people could not possibly be more wrong, and what you're saying makes no sense in terms of free market economics, to boot.

"Big Pharma" and smaller independent pharmaceutical companies are pouring tens of billions of dollars into cancer research. When new therapies come, they mean thousands of new jobs for doctors, researchers, and technicians. NO ONE working in cancer treatment is going to lose their jobs when cures are found. (And it is highly unlikely there is going to be a single cure anyway.) No company can afford not to be in this game because the competition is absolutely cutthroat, and the stakes are enormous.

If you know any oncologists, they have terrible, depressing jobs and not one of them -- clinical or researcher -- would have anything to do with covering up a cure. NO oncologist or cancer researcher would participate in suppressing a cure for this deadly disease. It's the fulfillment of their careers and lives to participate in anything that can help their patients.

Listen to yourselves. This might as well be DU.

Ridiculous.

Maybe he really had a cure/treatment and some pharmaceutical firm decide that the cost of a hit was less than the cost of the cure.

I’ve often wondered if a cure for cancer was made years ago but kept quiet because of Big Pharma, doctors and hospitals. Their lifestyles especially in the upper echelons could see a change in what they’ve been accustomed to. IMHO!!

No profit in the cure ever wonder when you do to a doctor for one thing and they want three tests for it every one gets a cut of the pie and my HMO doctor is one of then and he’s the fifth one $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
