Sen. Ron Johnson says woman who claims to be acting chief burrowed into agency
A top Republican demanded answers Wednesday on how Leandra English, the woman Democrats are pushing to be acting director of the governments top consumer advocacy agency, managed to burrow into her job and outlast the Obama administration.
Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said Ms. English held a political job at the Office of Personnel Management but managed to convert herself to a career civil service position early this year at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
The process is called burrowing, and it is generally frowned upon, though it does happen somewhat regularly.

After the election of President Trump but before his inauguration, Ms. English successfully turned a political appointment by President Obama at OPM into a career position at the CFPB through the approval of the then-acting director of the OPM, to whom she served as the principal deputy chief of staff, the senator wrote.

if a civil servant is illegally fired, s/he can sue to get the job back ...but it does not need to be the same job duties, just the same payscale

English wasn’t “illegally” fired. But that’s nice info.

Anyone know why Richard Cordray resigned from CFPD.
Did he know the chit was about to hit the fan with charges coming?

Converted from partisan political hack to “ career civil servant” in less than a year and then promoted to Director of that organization with a year or so in position
Right , happens every day

Fake outrage. This had been going on since like forever. Tough to fire. Easier way is to eliminate their position.
I'm guessing there are a bazillion from the Obama admin who have become Civil Servants.
Remember, Obama made a bazillion last minute appointments:
List here:

some
high lowlights:
- National Security Adviser Susan Rice and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett as general trustees of the Board of Trustees for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
- Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes and former Michelle Obama head speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz as members of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.
- Deputy National Security Adviser Avril Haines as a member of the National Commission on Military, National and Public Service.
- Chelsea Clinton’s mother-in-law, Marjorie Margolies, as a member on the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.

My guess: (1) There is some speculation he wants to run for political office in the next election so he needs free time. (2) His term was coming up in about eight months and he wanted to be sure he could install his own selection of successor before Trump could react and begin the confirmation process. Then he counted on the confirmation process being strung out long enough that the heir apparent could run the bureau for months past what his scheduled termination would have accomplished. There were skeletons and booby traps to be buried.
