A Jersey lawyer stands up for his Vietnam War buddy Roy Moore

(ABOVE: Am I the only one who's curious how the Washington Post uncovered so many women who made 40-year-old allegations against Republican U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore while uncovering none who made one-year-old allegations against Democratic U.S. Senator Bob Menendez?)

Stop me if you've heard this one before.

Alabama U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore walked into a brothel ...

... and then he walked right back out.

That's the account I got from Bill Staehle, a lawyer living in Asbury Park who served in Vietnam with Moore in the early 1970s.

Staehle, who is now 70, was a captain in the Military Police at a base just outside Da Nang, a perennial hot spot. Moore was a West Point grad and also a captain.

The evening in question began when a third officer, who was about to return to the States, came by in a Jeep and invited the two out for a beer to celebrate.

"It was interesting because the guy came down from Quang Tri and they had seen some tough duty," Staehle recalled when I talked with him on the phone Monday.

He expected they'd go to a bar and talk. Instead the guy pulled up at a nondescript house that was guarded by a couple South Vietnamese police with automatic weapons.

I did not know that Roy Moore is a West Pointer and a Vietnam Vet.

It is my opinion sexual predators don’t limit their sexual behavior to periods of time, therefore once a sexual predator always.

These corrupt hacks have the gall to smear Moore. All the while they’re covering up their own ACTUAL dalliances/assaults.

I wasn’t in Vietnam before or during the war, I have only come here recently.

However I have been here now for about a year and a half. I clicked on this story just to see what it was about. What I get from the story is a complete exoneration of Moore.

Vietnam is not now a country like Thailand, or Cambodia. There is a MASSIVE amount of dating which goes on here, it is ubiquitous, but it is mostly age-relative, and not for just fooling around. The goal is to find someone and settle down with them.

However I understand things used to be more open. I have to say the ladies here are quite enchanting. If Moore ended up at a place of ill repute, and walked back out, it says volumes about his standards.

Complete exoneration, in my view.

What makes it fishy is the way it went over the top. This isn’t on the credibility level of the Cosby scandal, not close. Roy never roofied anybody, not even according to allegation.

The failure of the story-line....was that it would have been better off to limit to two women only, and have relatives or friends who were aware of the episode at the time. Telling this in the way that the WaPo did...triggered most Alabama folks to be skeptical. Presently most of the state’s folks are maxing out on skepticism.

Never underestimate the amazing ties of “the Band of Brothers” from Vietnam/Laos and Cambodia. It is stronger than anything the Democrats have (look at Hillary versus Bernie. Donna Brazile versus the DNC, etc), and is based on something many liberals/leftists will never understand, including solid patriotism, loyalty to one’s brother in arms, honor in fighting for the cause of freedom, and telling the truth (Sen.Blumenthal, Sen. Harkin - FAKE Vietnam Vets - John Kerry - FAKE WOUNDS).
