No, that’s not what that means.
Your post omits that deductions reduce tax paid and that said unpaid tax IS paid via higher rates on _everyone_. I think that’s why some people say there subsidizing you - although that is an incomplete view, I see where they’re coming from.
Second, a state with more taxpayers and more income to tax will have more tax paid than a state with fewer taxpayers and less income to tax. Obviously.
States like Floriduh and Calipornia may fit that. Lots of federal expenses in both states.
I’m saying your analysis that asserts that aggregate state numbers mean what you say is at best incomplete and at worst is just straight up wrong.
