Including us Conservatives who live in those blue states. But that's ok, right?

It’s the state you live in that’s going to be crushing you. Your fed tax liability will no longer be reduced by your state’s tax bill.

That a state can raise taxes on you without you having to pay it all (federal taxes are raised everywhere else to cover it) is wrong. This is recognized and utilized by the left wing states. “Hey, we can make our state taxes ridiculously high... and people won’t have to pay it all... so they’ll still elect us.... and the feds just raise the rates on everyone to cover the shortfall...what a deal!!!”

I predict state taxes in blue states will not reduce tax rates right away. They’ll see how bad it is first. Then, rates will be coming down to be in line with most states which tax income. And I predict those who can leave high tax states will leave.

I’m glad this passed and I empathize with those who lose deductions to the extent their taxes do not decrease. But I think that deductions should be eliminated to the maximum extent possible.
