Well, it looks like the sexual harassment quake that’s rippled through various industries is taking another shot at the Democratic Party. This societal moment in which scores of women are coming out of hiding to detail their experiences with sexual harassment and abuse has taken down Hollywood moguls, Charlie Rose, Matt Lauer, Mark Halperin, and other big names in media. Roy Moore, the Republican Alabama Senate candidate, was a high-profile target for the Left. That’s been blunted after Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) faced sexual misconduct accusations; Conyers settled a claim in 2015 to the tune of $27,000 in taxpayer money. Yet, they’re liberal Democrats, so it’s a different standard. That’s their playbook. Conyers is retiring, but Franken is staying. Now, we have another Democrat, Assemblyman Matt Dababneh, from the deep, deep blue state of California who reportedly forced a woman into a bathroom and proceeded to masturbate in front of her (via LA Times):
Sacramento lobbyist Pamela Lopez has claimed that, in 2016, Democratic Assemblyman Matt Dababneh followed her into a bathroom, masturbated in front of her and urged her to touch him. Dababneh has strongly denied the allegation.
"It was Matt Dababneh," Lopez told The Times in a November interview.
Lopez jolted the California political world seven weeks ago when she first shared her account of an encounter in Las Vegas, joining more than 140 women as they denounced in an open letter a "pervasive" culture of sexual harassment and misconduct in the state Capitol.
Lopez had not publicly accused Dababneh until Monday, when she formally filed a complaint with the Assembly and named him at a news conference. The Times had been preparing a report on her accusations against Dababneh, and sought the assemblyman’s comment late last week.
Yet, there have been some updates. Lopez now says that masturbating incident occurred at a wedding in January of 2016. Also, a second woman, Jessica Yas Barker, has come forward to allege Dababneh sexually harassed her as well (Capital Public Radio):
Two women say California Assemblyman Matt Dababneh sexually harassed them, including one who claims the lawmaker accosted her in a bathroom during a Las Vegas party and masturbated in front of her.
“Matt Dababneh has abused his power to abuse women that work with him and that work for him,” Sacramento lobbyist Pamela Lopez told reporters during a news conference at her lobbying firm near the state Capitol on Monday.
In a letter submitted Monday to Assembly Rules Committee Chairman Ken Cooley — and again at Monday’s news conference — Lopez describes an incident where Dababneh, a Los Angeles County Democrat, followed her into a restroom at a wedding celebration at a Las Vegas hotel in January 2016.
[…]
A second woman, Jessica Yas Barker, joined Lopez at Monday’s news conference. She said Dababneh sexually harassed her when they worked for Rep. Brad Sherman (D-California). Dababneh was Sherman’s district director before being elected to the Assembly in a 2013 special election.
Barker began that job in 2008 at the age of 26 . She says her year-and-a-half there “was a constant reminder from Matt Dababneh that women were subordinate to him — in all ways.”
She says his behavior varied “from comments joking about the glass ceiling that we all have to contend with, to disparaging my clothing, calling me Ellen, telling me not to dress like such a lesbian.
“At events or fundraisers, he would eye up women in the room and talk about his conquests — who he’d slept with, who wanted to sleep with him,” Barker added. “And back at the office, he would open his top desk drawer to reveal a storage of condoms. And once he was certain that I had gotten a view of it, he would make a joke or smirk about it and make comments.”
No direct response from assemblyman @MattDababneh yet but his attorneys sent this letter to his accuser that states “Mr. Dababneh unequivocally denies the occurrence of the incident of sexual harassment...” @FOX40 pic.twitter.com/g9WOo7o8Lb— Joe Khalil (@JoeKhalil_Media) December 4, 2017
Dababneh isn’t the first California Democrat to be put in the crosshairs. The state legislature already had Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra (D-Los Angeles) resign over allegations of sexual harassment. State Sen. Tony Mendoza, who has now three women coming forward with similar allegations, remains in office.
The DNC has been dealt the Tarot card “The Fool”
For many years, almost a whole generation, the seriousness of the charges has only gone in one direction.
Time to pay the piper for assuming (D) equates to safety?
Nah, this is just how young Zuckerberg clears out the old fossils in his way...
Matt's on your left.
They Had hoped to use Franken’s resignation as a spring boatd to attack Moore but now..
..
ping
The Democrats seem to be a pervert magnet.
Matt Dababneh has abused his power to abuse women that work with him and that work for him,
Interesting phrasing.
Everyone in CA is a Democrat so it makes sense.
Does anyone ask anyone out anymore? Does anyone work on a relationship?
You know ask someone out for: A cup of coffee, lets rent a tandem bike and go for a ride, let me pack a picnic lunch, lets go eat it in the park, etc etc etc.
Have we gone that absolutely bonkers?
According to the feminists, the D means anything *but* safety.
Oh wait, you meant...
Pretty broad brush. I'd guess there are a bunch of CA FReepers who would disagree with you.
Obviously he wouldn't have done this if there were more Democrats in Sacramento.
Yes we have gone bonkers, must be the fluoride in the water; half kidding.
The list of Dems going down is growing everywhere.
The babe on the right is attractive.
And this is only ONE of many problems they have out there
Not with co-workers or people met through work. The risk is simply far too high.
This is why there’s been a huge explosion in dating sites.
Are we taking bets on when the harassment claims against WOMEN, in particular, Lesbians start coming forth?
I have been posting about how Moonbeam’s thugs and the rats in Sacramento have hiding the massive sexual attacks on women by Rat legislatures for about a few weeks now. The local rat owned tv mediots and fish wraps have ignored this reality. Below is a sexual abuse situation, ignored since 2009, 8 years ago.
The sexual abuse problems in Sacramento involving Moonbeam’s thugs in the legislature may be as big or bigger than their DC problem.
California State Lawmaker Knew Of Sexual Harassment Claim Against Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra, November 7, 2017 7:38 PM
BERKELEY (KPIX) There are claims of rampant sexual harassment at the California state capitol.
Now, KPIX has learned of one East Bay lawmaker, who knew of the complaints, and said nothing.
State Senator Nancy Skinner is a vocal supporter of womens rights, so her silence on the matter of Assemblyman Raul Bocanegras sexual harassment case is surprising.
But KPIX learned this isnt the first time shes been silent when it comes to sexual harassment and Assemblyman Bocanegra.
Skinner described one reason why sexual harassment is widespread at the state capitol.
We socialize, said Skinner. Theres a blur between our work life and our social life.
Just days later, it became apparent just how right she was.
Elise Flynn Gyore came forward to tell her story about an after-hours work event in 2009 when Bocanegra followed her and grabbed her breast. After an investigation, the Assembly Rules Committee decided it was more likely than not that Mr. Bocanegra engaged in behavior that night which does not meet the Assemblys expectations for professionalism. he was ordered to stay away from Gyore.
Three years later, he ran for Assembly in the San Fernando Valley with the full backing of the Democratic Party. Voters, who had no idea about the prior incident, elected him in 2012 and again in 2016. Now hes a member of Democratic Party leadership.
But before he was ever elected, a group of women tried to get the file on Bocanegra.
KPIX obtained a copy of a letter, sent on May 8, 2012 to Nancy Skinner, who at the time, was the chairwoman of the Assembly Rules Committee. It is basically the Human Resources department for the Assembly.
The letter says we have learned that a complaint of sexual harassment was filed against Raul Bocanegra and Raul Bocanegra is running for Assembly in the 39th Assembly District, and we believe that voters have the right to know the facts about the people who are running to represent them.
We are asking that you please make public any sexual harassment complaints made against Raul Bocanegra, including what the investigation found of said complaint and whether or not a financial settlement of any kind was reached. The public is being denied due process in making an informed decision on their next representative without the facts of just who is this man Raul Bocanegra.
The letter is signed by eleven women. We spoke to one of them who confirmed, Nancy Skinner never responded to their request.
Skinner is now a state Senator representing Berkeley. For the last three days KPIX has asked for an interview, to discuss the letter. She has refused.
KPIX gave Senator Skinners office the option of sending a written statement explaining why she never responded to the 2012 letter, but so far, she hasnt sent one.
