Washington Post ^ | December 6,2017 | Robert Barnes

The Trump administration on Wednesday asked the Supreme Court to overrule a 40-year-old precedent that allows states to require public employees to pay fees to unions that represent them, an important tool for the American labor movement.

Would they put this to the SC yet without feeling reasonably confident the SC will back them?

Bravo, Mr. President!

He seems to be racking up “first year” accomplishments like fudge, cherry, whipped cream and nuts to top off the (admittedly mediocre) tax package ice cream, Congress serves that up this year too.

The First Amendment is not a sovereign state issue.

The first image I had after seeing this was of Mel Gibson in one of the Lethal Weapon movies taking his truck, tying the axle to the foundational struts of a mansion built on a steep hill in California and then repeatedly running the truck out to the end of the cable until the house came down.

Go, President Trump! MAGA!!

Some public Universities are heavily unionized; a 2-for-1 special! :)

Unions are not what they were 50 years ago.....they have become PACs for the democrat party.

Like Act 10 in Wisconsin - it killed the teachers unions and lowered property taxes ... all by merely asking the teaches to pay the going rate for their ‘Cadillac’ healthcare ...

“I’ve never seen a guy on our team address almost every single thing that has been on my mind for decades.”

I know, I feel like there is finally hope.

If it weren’t for our RINO do-nothing Congress....Trump is magnificent but he can’t do everything alone. But he sure is trying!

Last night, I had of his meeting with the Democrats, he said how they wanted to shut down the government over illegal immigration. Illegal immigration which is bringing crimes here. With one statement, he put them on the defensive (Pelosi responded that they have no intention of doing so), He reminded everyone of Kate and the high price citizens have to pay, And he put any shut down on the Democrat’s shoulders. Brilliant!

In order to stay at my site, I had to join the union. Filled out the paper Monday, will be in in about two months’ time.

Which one is it? The literal worst in the country.

public employees shouldn’t have unions it perpetuates a bribery cycle. The union gives dues money to politicians who vote on their salary and benefits after the governor negotiates. The governor and legislatures receive contributions from the unions. The pay benefits go up, so the union raises dues and gives more money to the pols to raise pay and benefits. If there must be public unions no contributions for public officials, including no advertising.

Yup, and has resulted in terrible budget problems for most states. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of those problems.

WINNING! I feel the exact same way. I’m amazed all over again with every new morning! It’s wonderful having a President that has our backs for once in...a VERY long time!

I think Trump is after the deduction from a persons paycheck. That puts the employer in the position of being the bookkeeper for the union.

IF a person still wants to pay union dues, they can pay such dues directly, instead of making the employer the bookkeeper.

When Scott Walker did this move in Wisconsin, the ‘union dues’ of all those Liberal teachers went from 100% being collected to about 10% being collected.

I thought he was after having to pay a service fee. But paycheck reduction is even better. That will kill off the unions better than anything.

Thank you, Lord!

I had this posted right up on the wall above my desk for decades:

“To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”

The best argument here is that the federal government had to enact the 13th Amendment to outlaw slavery in the individual states.

“Abolishes slavery, and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime.”

This applies to forced union dues, forced artistry against a person’s religious beliefs, the forced payment of employee insurance to fund birth control and abortion against a person’s religious beliefs, and the forced purchase of individual health insurance.

So, backed by the spirit of Abraham Lincoln, President Trump is once again fighting against the involuntary servitude still sponsored by the Democrats.
