Is the Deep State Attempting a Coup?
Powerline ^ | 06 December 2017 | John Hinderaker

Administrative employees are nominally subject to the control of those appointed by politicians who have won elections, but Democrats embedded in the federal bureaucracy have proclaimed themselves part of the “resistance” to President Trump, and are using their positions to undermine his administration. Bureaucrats thus frustrate the will of the voters. President Trump has been in office for nearly a year, and has yet to take control over the federal bureaucracy that nominally reports to him.

I agree with Professor Barnett that this is a constitutional crisis. The most powerful branch of today’s government is the Fourth: the permanent federal bureaucracy that is nowhere mentioned in the Constitution. The Trump administration can best be viewed, perhaps, as a struggle to the death between American voters and the federal employees who are paid to serve them.

I think they tried but failed. I think they are on their last legs and the underlings and money supply are being rounded up and justice is working their way to the top quietly and without fanfare so that a coup can not happen.

If you did not figure out with the tax vote that politicians have a new master or that there is a war on that has started to be made public by all the politicians, media, actors and producers that have been taken out publicly with "sexual harassment " charges in the last month, you are not paying attention to the sea change. We are not going to see mass arrests but waves of scandal taking out the bit players until they can take out the most dangerous players at the top who will have nothing left to help them by the time it is their turn. To dangerous to do this any other way. Just like a military campaign....gee, who has Trump surrounded himself with?

That was very telling moment when all Dems have been doing since Trump was elected was scream impeachment.....The game is up and deep state has lost the war. There is only one option left for them and I doubt they would survive the aftermath.

It wont be a shooting war and I do not advocate that in any form. I think it would take the form of an economic civil war where the country grinds to a halt commerce wise.

Not all. Too much discontinuity. We need workers who know their way around.

Most bureaucracies have individuals who are corrupt because that's where the money is. In America I think we enjoyed a long period wherein a change of government did not mean the wholesale replacement of every single appointment, and the government stability that resulted was a benefit to the American people.

At this point, though, the rot appears systemic and I for one am more than willing to sacrifice a little government stability in order to humble a self-proclaimed ruling class. Fire them. Close down the union and fire them all, because if we don't we risk having to shoot them later.

That's why I support Al Franken keeping his Senate seat until and unless he's voted out

Rush read his statement and he hasn't resigned yet, but in the coming weeks.

Just throwing some ideas out there for FReepers to debate:

1. How about term limits for civil servants? Particularly those with powerful jobs.

2. How about a draft where EVERYONE serves? Civil service could be an option for those who can’t or don’t want to serve in the military. This way everyone contributes.

3. How about abolishing government pensions and letting government employees save in 401k accounts like the rest of us?

Fortunately for me, I live in Texas. I have no doubt that freedom loving Texans would make the right choices if ever CWII were to occur.

In Texas you likely would be in a two front war.

Okay.

In regard to the questions "Who will be the first person you will shoot in this civil war? Under whose orders will you shoot?":

There is insufficient information to definitively answer those questions at this point, no matter what side of "this civil war" you would be on.

In regard to the question "Under whose authority?" (and this kind of relates to the second question above) :

Ultimately, your own authority. I read once that the army doesn't make you kill people, but it trains you how to kill people, supplies you with weapons with which to kill people, then transports you to a location in close proximity to adversarial people who have been similarly trained and supplied and lets you decide what you're going to do.

As to who should be recognized as having authority to issue orders, you'd have to decide who is trying to "defend the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic". Either, both or any side in "this civil war" might claim to do so. If things fall apart so badly that this isn't an issue, you'd have to decide which side is most likely to "secure these rights".

As I wrote above, there is insufficient information to definitively answer your questions at this point. You or I aren't going to kick things off, but if someone else does, more information will be available.

The unelected fourth branch of government that answers to no one. Because of civil service policies and laws and government unions and they dirt they have on the political class they are essentially untouchable. They hold the average citizen in contempt the same way they hold anyone who dares to threaten their existence.

Nothing happened to the CIA, NSA, FBI, etc... after 911 intelligence failures. Nothing happened to the these same people after the WMD screw up in Iraq. Nothing happened to the IRS after Lois Lerner weaponized it against American citizens. Nothing happened to the VA after they essentially said we want paid and we don’t give a damn about the veterans, you can’t fire us, give us a raise now peasant!

These people are not patriots, nor do they love their country. They are tyrannical, power hungry and abusive bureaucrats. They know they are untouchable because they have the dirt on the political branches and are not afraid to use it. They don’t control Trump thus the ongoing subtle coup. Hillary approved off and mooched off this branch of government so they of course did and are still doing her bidding.

These people are more dangerous than any threat this country has ever faced. They hate freedom and they hate the average citizen. Beware!

A lot of those agencies and even some departments could be eliminated, and no one would notice except those thrown out of work and their friends and relatives.
