The fact is, Trump’s been around for a long while, in and out of businesses, in and out of relationships with various politicians of all locations and affiliations, and y’know, there’s no way to survive that without having PILES of dirt on everyone he ever did business with, along with lots of celebrity crap-heads and other entertainment industry nitwits. Free trade is good for the economy long term, the problem is as Trump pointed out a lot of our past leaders like Obama, Clinton, and even Bush made terrible trade deals with other countries that let them in effect rip us off.
Part of this was their effort to leverage our economic strength to help them make military and ideological alliances. While there is certainly a time and place for paying for alliances many of theses alliances are not worth the money, not anymore at least.
