Democrats Forced Franken Out To Ramp Up Their Strategy To Bring Down Trump
Fox Nws ^ | 12-8-2017 | John Fund

In the comedy movie “Anchorman,” comedian Will Farrell advises his TV audience to “stay classy.” On Thursday, former “Saturday Night Live” comedian Al Franken didn’t follow that advice and resigned from the U.S. Senate in a particularly classless way.

Even after eight women told reporters that the Minnesota Democrat had groped or forcibly kissed them, Franken denied he had done anything wrong.

Franken said from the Senate floor that “some of the allegations are simply not true” and that he remembered other accusations differently. He then tried to wrap himself in a feminist flag by vowing he had always been a “champion of women” and saying “I respect women. I don’t respect men who don’t.”

Nonetheless, Franken announced he would resign from the Senate seat he’d held for eight years in coming weeks because he couldn’t defend himself before the Ethics Committee and at the same time focus on being a senator.

Pardon me for saying it, but that’s horsepucky.

Political observers say the speed with which Democrats forced Franken and Michigan Democratic Rep. John Conyers, the longest-serving member of Congress, to resign over sexual misconduct allegations is breathtaking.

Franken said earlier that he was confident he could ride out the Ethics Committee probe of his pre-Senate behavior and seek forgiveness from the voters. What forced him into his sudden departure was the decision by his party’s leadership to sacrifice him so they could spend the next year before the midterm elections painting Republicans as waging a “war on women.”

I'm beginning to believe that we may have to go to Washington if Trump is to complete his elected term.

It may not be to early to figure out how you may participate in a 'save Trump' movement that could get violent.

Alabamians will not allow Washington politicans to unseat their elected senator....either.

Absolutely. When their president proved to be a deviant creep, it was okay. Trump is caught making some locker room comments and it’s the end of the world. The real issue is Trump’s politics.

It's so stupid. Their strategy is like a diplodocus trying to take down a velociraptor. Absolutely no effective strategic thinking.

The problem with this “strategy” is many on the left knew about these indiscretions and did nothing.

Franken isn’t officially ‘OUT’ yet. I’m guessing if Moore is elected to the Senate, Franken will decide to stay in. I also suspect he’s probably a bit resentful at being thrown under the bus by the Dems for purely political reasons (to use against Trump) and I can see him doing a reversal.

Tomi Lahren: 'Mueller Probe Isn't An Investigation, It's A Witch Hunt'

Rush said last week that these people aren't investigating a crime, they're looking for a crime. In fact, he said that there are five seperate investigations on-going in desperate search of a crime. After almost a year, none have been found. A political witch hunt for sure.

“Democrats Forced Franken Out To Ramp Up Their Strategy To Bring Down Trump”

We’re not supposed to notice. They’re so much more clever than we are.

It won't get violent. Their strategy moves are too predictable, too elaborate, and too plodding. In other words their strategy is non-strategic. Remember the shadow government Obama had in place? People infiltrated in government, and he was going to run it from his house in DC? Where is he now? Overseas bloviating “Trump = Hitler” at exactly the same time Trump committed to move our embassy to Jerusalem. Also the same week the Mueller team is blowing up and Flynn has legal reason to pull his plea deal.

These people are way to myopic and stupid to actually take down Trump. Not going to happen.

This is a head fake.

Franken said in his speech there is so much more that needs to be done.

This is all about framing the picture which has always been Trump being forced out of office by the conviction of the public opinion court tsunami.

MSNBC’s Ruhle: Could Franken Ouster Lead To Trump’s Impeachment?

Partial transcript as follows:

RUHLE: We can talk all day long about how unpopular President Trump is—he is a political Svengali. An unpopular, completely unqualified, morally reprehensible person became president of the United States. I cannot believe—lightning’s going to strike me, I’m saying this—I want to share what Laura Ingraham had to say. Watch this. I can’t even believe I’m playing this.

The Dem’s are going to try to turn the whole sexual abuse issue into the new Russia, Russia, Russia dialog. The media will ignore the corruption that took place in frothing up that false narrative and will become breathless over this line of attack in, 3...2...1

Bogus assumptions: See my Twitter thread.

There are a LOT more of these cases to come. 145 settled since 2007, avg. 12 a year, slight majority likely Rs. Then you have the % that were NOT settled but had merit, say 5% more, or another 15.

THAT’S 1/3 of CONGRESS, not even counting the Senate.

Nope, no way any of this hurts Trump or Moore.

"I'm beginning to believe that we may have to go to Washington if Trump is to complete his elected term."

You may be right and starting if Roy Moore and their is a movement not to seat him. This is a coup attempt and must be stopped or the uniparty will never allow outside elections again. Only state approved candidates will be allowed to run for office.

It was a joke when I first heard it as an enlistee, but it's funny how Franken's words echo the hoary admonishment:

Admit nothing…

“some of the allegations are simply not true”

…deny everything…

He tried to wrap himself in a feminist flag by vowing he had always been a “champion of women”

…and make counter accusations.

“I respect women. I don’t respect men who don’t.”

They’ve had a year to think about their party since Trump won. They’ve done a lot of thinking, discussing, contemplating, changing. They talked and wrote a lot about what ideas leadership and other parts of the party was going through.
Should they focus on “identity politics”?
Which of their issues would appeal to the great unwashed (red states)?
What’s the right messaging for moderates/middle/independents who they’ve lost?
Can they win focusing on their base and ignore the rest?
And on and on.
And they have not been able to build what they think is a “winning strategy” based on their ideas and policies.

If they had a plan based on progressive or liberal ideas, we’d at least have seen a foundation being laid out that they can run on in 2018. They’d want to sent up some trial balloons and test some messages before 2018 elections get going.

They are basically admitting that they have no ideas to offer voters (that voters want). They can offer the removal of Trump and stopping republicans in congress.

They will use the “lesser of 2 evils” strategy so they can win elections and pass more legislation before the people know what’s in it. Telling people what they want is a losing strategy - even they seem to agree.

If Gov. Mark Dayton was a Republican, you could bet your last nickel that the ‘Rats would be circling the wagons around Franken.
