If a sixteen year old has a relationship with a 20 year old guy, at least the parent knows of him and can make an educated decision.
I’d never give permission like that, because the populace when camping is transient. The folks that are there today, will be somewhere unknown to you just a day or more from now. It’s just not a safe situation for allowing your kid to run around unchaperoned with someone they really don’t know.
They may hate you, but they’ll definitely live to see another day.

Actually, my family was camping for the entire summer, the guy who took me for ice cream was a local, and known to other people camping near us. I think the other campers did not know he was married, but some of the girls I was swimming with lived locally and did know.
That makes sense. I appreciate the follow up on that.
