Interesting perspective... I wouldn't be at all surprised if it turns out to be correct.

He will have until 2020 to drag it out then the people of Minnesota will have their say.

I bet if he does intend to drag it out he will be such a distraction that even the democraps will have to do something.

What gets me is that he has absolutely no remorse for touching women inappropriately.

He is under the impression that if he likes it then they must like it too.

He seems confused that anyone would be upset about his handling them.

Can any woman in this country close her eyes without the fear that Al Franken will assault her?

Franken is a wounded duck. Every democrat in the senate has called for him to resign, so they will face uncomfortable questions if he does not resign, such as whether you favor tit for tat vs doing the right thing. I predict that he will resign regardless.

“I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it turns out to be correct.”
Well, I would be surprised. He’ll serve as a reminder to women that, for all their talk about the “War On Women”, the Dems are frauds.
Second, he will be too wounded to do much of anything. Nothing more than a punchline.
Third, he’s not popular back home - only 20% of voters still support him.
He would be defeated in 2020, thus sending at least 1 Republican from Minnesota to the Senate.

Considering these things, his staying on would only be a big plus for Republicans. and all downside for the Dems. So if he did stay, I’d be surprised and enjoy the misery he brings to the Dems.

Behind the scenes they are doing their damnedest to rig his seat so they can be sure of keeping it....

“Yes, I abused women, and I think so highly of them now, I will resign sometime in the future. Honest!”

This from an acknowledged abuser.

Yes, the Democrat party sure has a high level of integrity. /s

Whether he resigns or not, this Senate seat will remain firmly in the grip of those on the far Left.

He will not resign until Roy Moore does – and since there is no way Roy Moore is going to do that, there's no way Al Franken is going to do that either.

That is money in the bank, right there.

I think your analysis is spot on.

Also, the Franken "non-resignation resignation" speech was carefully crafted to give him an out while capitalizing on the upcoming Alabama election. He's hoping that some "dumb Alabamians" will vote for the Democrat instead of Moore because of Franken doing the noble thing.

Fortunately, Alabamians aren't as dumb as the Democrats think they are.

If Moore wins, Franken is not going anywhere so long as Moore is still sitting in the senate.

****The GOP establishmentarians, with their shameful, craven, and traitorous abandonment of Moore, have played right into Franken’s hands****

They didn’t play into his hand, they helped deal the cards. They were in on it from the beginning of this charade.

Franken wants to be on the Senate floor when Moore is sworn in. He may
use that time to resign or at least castigate Sen. Moore from the floor.

I’ve never wanted him to resign. He’s damaged goods, he’s been “outed” and will never have a chance at a presidential or VP spot with that picture hanging over his head of him groping a woman’s boobs while she’s asleep. He’s not a likeable candidate anyway, so let him sit in the Senate and bloviate. Better that than some fresh new clean appointee who will be the most liberal female Mark Dayton can find in the DFL and who will then stand an excellent change of being elected as she will run with the advantage of incumbency.

If Franken stays it ruins the libs ability to use him against Moore, Trump, or anyone in the future.

Do not want the Dems to have any high ground. Ever.

Franken’s going to resign. He wants to stay on, but with every scalp, the Mewtoos take the witch hunt only speeds up. He’s done.

As far as Moore goes, he’ll be investigated by the ethics committee under oath and if there’s solid evidence of malfeasance he’ll be removed. That’s due process and people deserve due process.

Franken didn’t really admit to anything, did he? He denied some of the accusations, and said he remembered the other accusations in a different way from what the accusers said.

Franken head fake.

Franken was just groping for support.

Call me when he draws his last paycheck.

Agreed. Franken doesn't have it in him to fall on his sword. I suspect this was kabuki theatre intended to influence Alabama and nothing more.

I believe he has gone too far down the resignation path to back out. If Moore wins and Franken backs out that would be great however. Him backing out tells the American public that he is an untrustworthy hypocrite.

I have no doubt there was a meeting. Franken told Pelosi there will be hell on earth before he resigns. So they came up with this compromise.
