Gloria Allred Holds Press Conference, Addresses Notes Beverly Nelson Wrote in Yearbook

Roy Moore accuser Beverly Young Nelson, with lawyer Gloria Allred in tow, conducted a press conference today pushing back against the idea that Moore’s yearbook signature was “forged,” despite admitting that she did add the date and location afterwards.

The yearbook note in question reads “To a sweeter more beautiful girl I could not say Merry Christmas. Christmas 1977. Love, Roy Moore, D.A. 12-22-77 Olde Hickory House.”

Allred told the press conference that her client had always meant to only include the signature and the Christmas greeting as being written by Moore, saying that she had the signature analyzed and it matched that of Moore.

“She never said that he wrote that,” Allred told the press, referring to the date and location that appear at the end of the quote.

Allred continued to speak highly of Nelson throughout the presser.

“She’s just so brave. I can’t tell you, this kind of courage is something that should inspire so many people, especially women,” she said.

The lawyer also added that Nelson could actually be in physical danger.

“I think she’s in danger and she knows it,” she said. “There are people who feel very comfortable saying things like ‘she should be stoned in the town square’ and sending a photo of a casket. Who does that?”/

[snip]

Allred also noted that the duo would welcome the yearbook to be analyzed by the Senate.

It “matched” doesn’t mean it IS Moore’s signature (that is on her divorce papers).

Who purposely tries to ruin people’s lives, Gloria, especially with falsified evidence?

Who does that?

Oh, I agree, Gloria. No one should be sending that to your client.

They should be sending that, and more, to YOU!

When your meager credibility is crumbling and you want to finish yourself off—do a presser with Gloria Allred.

I've heard a adage that goes like this: If the evidence is in your favor, pound the evidence. If the evidence is not in your favor, pound the table. I think they are pounding the table.

...but it very likely was done at the time her divorce papers were sent to her, because that is when she would have seen Roy’s full business signature

More likely it was added after Corfman's accusation made news. Nelson would have had no reason to do it when he was running for office in Alabama, even if she still held a grudge about the divorce ruling. But the attack on Moore was already underway. We're in the destroy-Trump era now, and the Senate race is a national race, and it is important to both the Trump agenda and the Trump haters.

Maybe Moore did write the inscription and sign it "Roy" when she worked at the restaurant. But how do you prove it was THAT Roy, at THAT restaurant. I wonder if she first took it to the Washington Post and they said, "Can't use it, doesn't prove anything." So she consults with Allred who says something like, "If it only had his last name..." and Nelson remembers, "Hey, his last name is on my divorce papers." So they concocted to add his last name, the date, and the location. The date and location were ooooooverkill -- tailoring their "evidence" to match up with what was already out. But who signs a yearbook and puts where they are when they sign it?

Nelson is so blinded by her mission, she cannot see how she looks to others, and Allred doesn't care.

Allred is practicing 'law' in states she does not have a license in.

I've wondered about that also. Isn't it illegal to practice law in a jurisdiction where you haven't passed their bar exams? Practicing Law w/o a License?

His accuser admitted that she was the one who wrote the additional information, not Moore. In other words, he wrote, “To a sweeter, more beautiful girl, I could not say ‘Merry Christmas. Love, Roy Moore.” She added the stuff about him being a D.A., the date, and the location.

I find the following interesting:

Beverly Nelson was a sophomore at Southside High School in Gadsden, Alabama in 1977.

Classmates.com allows you to search for a school - go ahead:

Select 'Alabama'

Select 'G" as the first letter of the city

Select 'Gadsden'

Select 'S' as the first letter of the school

Select ANY OTHER school besides 'Southside' and see the search page

Select 'Southside' and see NOTHING...blank...nada...zilch

Now go to the Wayback Machine to see what the page looked like on Sep. 4 of this year:
https://web.archive.org/web/20170904091521/http://www.classmates.com/places/school/Southside-High-School/17590

The search page for Southside was just fine back then.

Hmmmm......

I have been wondering- why would anyone say "Merry Christmas" in a yearbook? Yearbooks come out at the end of the school year- in May or June. I have a lot of yearbooks and not one of them is signed "Merry Christmas"... Just seems really out of place (regardless of who wrote it).

Presumably, Christmastime was when she brought her yearbook to work to be signed.

Nelson’s divorce was presided by Judge Moore.

She has an axe to grind

You may be right but who takes their high school yearbook to the office to be signed? I think that is just weird.
