That’s correct. Democrats and RINOs give out crony favors in the form of more gov’t. Trumpers and libertarians deconstruct gov’t (generally), but there are few donations in that.
Money wins elections. Not so much via TV commercials, but now apparently buying rape accusers and walkin-around money.
We’ll see. Nothing from the RNC or “Donald Trump” in the last 24 hours.
Or perhaps reconsider whether partisan politics is the best way to achieve our aims. For Christians I definitely don’t think that partisan politics makes sense. And doubt it makes sense for secular conservatives, either.
A thought experiment. We have $100,000 to spend. We could spend that in support of “prolife” political candidates, or we could spend that to equip an ultrasound machine to provide free ultrasounds to women considering infanticide. At the end of the day, which way of spending the $100,000 ends up saving more lives?
The minority perks are quite nice, and in some cases better than the majority perks.

You seemed surprised - you do know that he was first elected to the Senate in 1986 as a Democrat and became a Republican in 1994, so backing a Democrat is nothing new to that opportunist. Besides, is there a difference?

A Denver talk show host tonight asked a caller to define a term he used, “RINO”.
MY response is,
“Someone who pretends to be a Conservative when seeking your money and vote, but upon getting into office abandons all conservative principles and votes in the interest of the Chamber of Commerce and the ‘business as usual’ crowd.”
I amazed at the wealth accumulated, by Congress.

Yup, exactly right. The Republicans aren't interested in putting the government back on the right track either. They have proven over and over that they are not worthy of the votes and power they get.
Unfortunately, correct. We have reached the stage where the power of the state and its secret police (the FBI and the rest of the surveillance agencies) are such that restoration of the Republic is probably not possible from within the system.
That is getting to be a very salient question.....I'm retired and not much of what they can do in the years before I'm gone will make much of a difference to my actual life style - getting hard to give a damn.
