Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen M. Nielsen said this week that federal immigration officers can strike fear in local immigrant communities, in what her own officers and agents said was an early misstep for the new department chief.

Immigrant communities? I thought they are after illegal aliens.
Nests.
The problem is that today, they have too little fear.
Another red flag with her. Pretty clear where her heart is and it’s not MAGA America First.
Again, these underlings going public against their new boss should be cause for a “come to Jesus” session with both of them. Before speaking out at crossed purposes with their boss they should have had a private discussion. This idea that everyone has the “right” to speak their minds even when it’s directly against policy, has to be stopped, NOW!
Huh? It sounds to me that she wants to drive illegals out! How is that anti MAGA?
Yesterday, she was praising Texas for cracking down on Sanctuary Cities.
What's the problem, you ask?
Nielsen supports DACA Amnesty, and so does her old boss, John Kelly, who is now Trump's Chief of Staff.
I think Trump, Kelly, and Nielsen are about to cut a deal with the GOPe and the Democrats on DACA.
What she said is spot-on, we need to strike fear in those who are here illegally. She is taking exactly the right approach:
“Making her first visit to the southwestern border since being confirmed to the job last week, Ms. Nielsen began to lay out her own priorities on immigration, praising Texas for a new law punishing sanctuary cities and urging other states to follow Texas lead.
On Wednesday, at a section of existing border fence in Hidalgo, Texas, the secretary warned of another surge of illegal crossers, boosted President Trumps plans for a border wall and called for all illegal immigrants with criminal records to be held in custody while they await deportation, rather than being released into communities.
Adopting a strict enforcement posture, she also called for an end to the diversity visa lottery and limits to chain migration, said the asylum system is being abused by undeserving illegal immigrants, demanded states and localities drop their sanctuary policies, and asked Congress to officially sanction immigration detainers so local jurisdictions would have to hold illegal immigrants for pickup.
We are going to make it very, very difficult to remain here unlawfully, she said.”
They should strike fear into the illegal alien communities, but they haven’t for decades.
Her position is immigration officials strike fear in immigrant communities just by going there. If they are legal, they should not fear authorities. She seems to say they should not go to immigrant communities.
I’m sure you’re right, but language matters. Like, we’re not a “democracy”.
Nests- cells
Screw that! It should be illegals who need to strike fear in Americans, (Trumpsters as liberals are already submitting)
(sarc off)
KILL the disgraceful “U-Visa”. It hands amnesty to an illegal who “cooperates with police” during a criminal investigation. Has been massively abused.
They should not fear law enforcement but many legal immigrants still do based on past experience in their nations of origin.
I think the quote is unduly harsh on her. She has stated what is very likely to happen: the wall gets built and strict enforcement will be the law rather than an option with local and state governments. Cooperation with state, county and local law enforcement is being emphasized as it should be. Most rank and file in law enforcement are only tolerating this permissive attitudes in sanctuary cities because they will risk their job by not doing what the liberal political bosses tell them to do.
Give her a chance. I think she is working off the same page as a large majority of Americans who want safety and security first, then we’ll talk about DACA.
Yes. I think the headline is misrepresenting her comments.
