Had things gone forward as you suggest, you would be now complaining that we shouldn't have picked a "flawed candidate" who couldn't possibly have won.
Pulling his funds and condemning him was tantamount to validating the accusations. The entire party told people to vote for someone else.
So far as I'm concerned, the Republican party has shown itself to be a disloyal backstabber, and I hope someday a lot of their backs get the same sort of Knife treatment they gave Moore.
What?
Once you've been accused of being a child molesting rapist, and your entire party acts like it's true, it kind of takes much of the value out of normal campaign appearances.
The party F***ed him. He won statewide election in 2013. He would have been fine absent the accusations. He would have still won had the party not abandoned and condemned him. Richard Shelby is a dishonorable snake.
Them and two lying kook b*tches. Democrats stabbed him in the front, and Republicans stabbed him in the back. Afterwards idiot commentators complained he was a "flawed candidate" because he had holes in him from the knives.
Yaelle, I respect your opinion, but this is just wrong. Moore won statewide election in 2013, and there was no reason to expect he would have lost this one had those unprovable accusations not been thrown at him.
I think he would have still pulled it out if the Party hadn't dumped him and made it look like he was guilty. Richard Shelby urging everyone in Alabama to "write in" someone else, put the kiss of death on him.
I blame our Republican "Allies" for being backstabbing bastards. Democrats are going to Democrat, but our side should have just STFU if they couldn't say anything useful.
If you mean, before he was thrown into national prominence with the 8mportance of this race, Ill agree. But he was a flawed candidate especially because of the accusations, which seemed like oppo research and trailer park dollar drags, but they were numerous, similar, and most showed tame, legal behavior.
His biggest flaw came from his own mouth. He didnt defend himself with Hannity honestly. That finished him off for me, though I would have voted for him if I were in Alabama.
Yeah, because some gopee checked pants clown would have faired so much better here in Bama, right Drew?
I cant imagine anyone doing worse. Your guy Moore managed to lose the safest GOP seat in the Senate, a seat considered so safe that Jeff Sessions ran unopposed in 2014 -and still received more votes than Moore did!
The voters of Alabama who is thought Roy Moore was Senate material managed the impossible. They gave Jeff Sessions seat to a liberal Democrat.
Let that sink in.
“Alabamans in particular, who fielded a candidate so loathsome”
Roy Moore was not “loathsome” until GOP Establishment, Never Trumpers and Democrats labeled him a pedophile. As many lawyers said, there is a reason we have statutes of limitation, so people don’t have to defend themselves against 35 year old allegations.
“Congratulations, GOPe, you just elected a Democrat”
Correction, GOPe and Alabama just helped elect a radical. Jone’s beliefs about unfettered (ever) abortion are radical. Jone’s desires for amnesty are against the majority of Americans, therefore radical, etc. It’s time to start labeling people radical if their views and wishes for America are radical.
The GOPe is going to regret the day they started all this write in nonsense, guaranteed. What’s good for the goose...
Hannity didnt like Moore and his horseshit of an interview was geared to make people not trust Moore. After the interview Hannity hardly mentioned Moores name other that to give him 24 hours to explain himself. Hannity ignored any Moore supprorter that would speak to his character. The entire Fox team, excluding Lou Dobbs worked long and hard to paint Moore as a serial pedophile. They played a major part in the democrat winning.
There were exactly two, but the media kept adding the six other women who dated him and who said he was a "gentleman", and called it "8 accusers."
The 2 accusers were both kooks with serious issues in both their lives and in faults with their stories. There were three witnesses against Beverly Nelson that directly contradicted her claims. Leigh Corfman didn't have any contradicting witnesses who made actual statements, but her stories had some inconsistencies that didn't make any sense.
His biggest flaw came from his own mouth. He didnt defend himself with Hannity honestly.
I've already explained that, and I thought for sure you were one of the people who had told me you read that.
To summarize what I had previously said, Hannity went at his questioning with the insinuation that dating teenage girls would make all the accusations true. Hannity put the focus on Moore dating teenagers (which he did) instead of focusing on the one serious charge in the whole issue. "Did he molest an underage girl"?
When you've got your 1 serious accusation bundled together with 5 other trivial claims, and you act like an admission to the trivial claim proves the serious accusation, you've put the man into a difficult spot. Hannity flubbed that interview because he didn't separate the serious from the relatively minor. He should have left alone the question of dating teenagers, and focused solely on the accusation that Moore molested a 14 year old.
Hannity did the exact opposite of what he should have done, and Moore wasn't ready for the script flip.
If you cant defend yourself then who the hell can? Hes really the opposite of Trump. He just stood there and let them beat him senseless because he knew that every time he opened his mouth he made it worse.
So did Trent Lott. So did George Allen. So did Christine O'Donnell. So did dozens of other people who the media destroyed because they can reach the public and no one can get a chance to talk back to them.
I wouldn't think I would have to make someone who calls themselves "brilliant" aware of how many times this exact same sort of sh*t played out like this. They even did it with Mitt Romney! (who I didn't really like anyway)
You keep blaming our candidates instead of blaming the media attack machine and the backstabbing party!
There seems to be a large collection of you guys who think all of our problems will be solved when we have "SUPERCANDIDATE!" This just tells me you haven't been paying attention and don't understand the situation.
The Democrats get by with vermin candidates for two reasons. They *OWN* the media attack machine, and their party staunchly defends their slimeball candidates no matter what they have done. (When there is a seat up for grabs. They are letting go of Franken because they know the Democrat governor will put another one in that seat.)
The day before the interview I was disgusted at Hannity s slavish support of Moore.
I agree that the CW was that Moore was a pedo. There was never evidence he was interested in pre pubescent kids. It was a bit ridiculous. But he did lie and equivocate on Hannity so he needs to take some blame.
Supercandidate? Just about anyone would have better than Moore. We knew that when he was nominated too. Why do you think Trump endorsed Strange? Weve just got to be smarter on the front end. I dont blame it on Moore so much as I do the voters.
I'm getting tired of trying to talk to people who apparently know less about the subject than do I.
Strange would have been toast.
And I could keep going.
The reason these people aren't seen as "nuts" is because the Media attack machine doesn't focus on them unless it is forced to do so.
