Hate to agree, but I think you’re right. We are past the point of no return. There will be another civil war in our land.
I don’t think there will be another civil war. During the last one, there were no carrier groups, tanks or nuclear weapons. Whoever controls those can win any war they want as quickly as they want.
What I think you will see is increasing civil unrest, perhaps some political assassinations and the like. There will be votes for states trying to break away from the union, which I really think is for the best, and those trying to hold the union together to control them. Eventually, the violence and dysfunction will be great enough so that some states will eventually be successful in their efforts. National borders have changed for thousands of years - there’s no reason to think that ours will remain permanent.
