Culture Wars: Our Fading Hope
American Thinker ^ | Dec 17, 2017 | Don Fisher, Jr.

It is a period of civil war. Liberal filmmakers and lawmakers, striking from their elitist enclaves, have won their first victories against the forces of decency and godliness.

During the battles, liberal spies managed to infiltrate the highest echelons of government, media, and the arts, securing an obscene ruling that same-sex couples may marry. Their goal is to destroy an entire civilization under their perverted view of fairness.

Pursued by the truth, liberal directors and actors race to the screen to indoctrinate audiences into this twisted notion and aid in further enslaving the masses of the planet into their mistaken worldview.

Please forgive me if that revised intro into the Star Wars universe sounds hyperbolic. It's to illustrate that liberal creative types can't be content to entertain us with a movie when there is a culture war at stake. Consider the quotes by two of the newest Star Wars contributors: psychologist J.J. Abrams and biologist John Boyega. I'm sorry – that should be movie director J.J. Abrams and actor John Boyega, who both play make-believe for a living.

In March of 2016, Abrams said this about homosexual characters in the future episodes of the Star Wars franchise: "I would love it. To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn't be a homosexual character in that world." Yes, J.J., I guess it's also narrow-minded to say there are people who believe that entertainers should entertain and not preach, but that clearly won't shut up liberal blabbermouths with an ax to grind.

In October of 2017, Boyega said: "There definitely is that responsibility, but more the responsibility to hire those from those experiences to share their creative light. That's the pivotal thing.

Star Wars underperformed in its opening and Hollywood in general is having a terrible year. People are tired of being preached to and voting with their feet.

It’s the over propaganda that drives me nuts. Leftist propaganda was common in TV shows and movies as far back as the 50s but it was more subtle and less challenging. Today it’s shoved down your throat in the most offensive way possible because the left has a lot more power than they did in the 50s and 60s.

All seatings here were packed. My cousin “had” to go and ended up in the very front and all the way to the right.

I’m waiting until January 6. I’ll see the Darkest hour first, next week.

The first TV I ever saw was in 1952 or 1954. A neighbor bought one to watch the world series. My father finally bought a TV in 1960. He was a fairly new LTC in the army then.
I do not recall any left wing crap on TV until LBJ’s great society BS and the Vietnam War in 62. My old man went over his 1st tour in 63-64. What left wing shows do you recall from the 50’s?

...homosexual characters in the future episodes of the Star Wars.

That's the kiss of death to me. If I find out a movie has gays in it I make it a point to skip it. I'm tired of hearing about the problems of people who evolution naturally weeds out.

My dad’s an old TV buff so I’ve watched a lot of stuff from that era. The one that sticks out to me the most is “Have Gun, Will Travel”, a show I very much loved.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Have_Gun_%E2%80%93_Will_Travel

A lot of the stories revolved around playing up the law as always being right and lawyers & judges are holy people, vengeance is always wrong, and other themes from the left during this period. The traditional virtues of bravery, avenging your folks, adventure and protecting your own through collective action took a back seat to an endless parid of victims and leftist type saints who save them. During this period the left was busy turning the legal system into a sort of priesthood that couldn’t be questioned and had to be obeyed through their victim narratives and shows like HGWT were a big part of making it happen. The propaganda was very subtle and very well done.

The show’s still very enjoyable but that reflects that the left had to be hidden and subversive back then. Today they just beat you over the head with their propaganda because they’re firmly in charge.

Contrast that to real entertainment like the Odyssey which is about Odysseus’s manly bravery and adventure, his long trip home, rights and courage, and about Odysseus murdering the guys who tried to take his wife. No moralizing about vengeance there.

I once rented the movie Goon, because it sounded like the sort of dumb comedy that I enjoy. 5 minutes into the film we’ve got a long gay kiss in the stands at a hockey game. That was it for me.

Gays just have to push their deviant lifestyle on everyone else but are the quickest to bitch if someone else does the same thing to them such as pointing out what they do is considered a sin in most, if not all, religions.

There’s a reason why it’s considered a sin but they will never get it even when they find themselves at the doctors office with all kinds of medical problems related to their sick sexual habits.

And how many straight people are going to buy tickets to watch a homosexual love story? Go ahead. Make movies for the two percent. Nobody will stop you.

Never saw that or read into westerns anything except the same old good vs. evil. The law is usually right. Too many kids today do not respect cops. The good guys always won in the end. They do make Jesse and Frank James into some folk hero types back then in every version of the movie. Surprisingly, I ran into people from a city where one of the James brothers jumped a wall with his horse to escape. They still looked at Frank as some good guy. He lived in Nashville, and; no one here says anything about him.

Well, the Hollywood social constructionists are behind the times too. The homosexual is now losing out to the transgender straights. I can't even keep up anymore. Who knew that "choice" would go so far?

I still haven't seen Beauty and the Beast. I've heard the "gay" scene isn't all that it is cracked up to be, but I have a hard time getting excited about funding what was promoted as an "activist" animated flick. It is pitiful how they have to make everything, including the NFL, an "activist" platform nowadays. There is no escape from the propaganda. BAMN is picking up steam on the left, and it won't end well.

If the law was usually right we wouldn’t have the people’s veto that is jury trials. Legalism wasn’t a thing in America before the left infected the courts. It’s not an accident that things like row v wade soon followed a generation of kids brainwashed by TV.

You sound like a millennial kid. Juries are required for certain crimes/circumstances. The law is usually right if you don’t believe it break one.

I remember 1950’s TV; especially the commercials which would leave one to conclude that the Western free enterprise system was alive & well with no criticisms from the Left. No one said on TV that in the USSR at least the trains ran on time. Union strikers were usually regarded as troublemakers.

It’s not like a Lifebouy ad ended with the model holding up a bar & saying, “Try Lifebouy Soap. After all, how many brands of soap do we really need?”

;^)

Exactly. I recall the Lucky Strike and Byrlcreem adds. It was the mid around the Kennedy Era when the news changed slightly.

I’ll be darned if I saw much “left wing” in Have Gun, Will Travel. Sometimes a show is just a show.

And that one was a darn good show.

Mid budget and independent films have underperformed majorly this year. A few big movies are the only thing keeping the box office going.

Agree. I am pleased when any younger person joins the site. I wish they’d just listen and learn from older folks. Yes, there are things we can learn from them too.
