Yup. It’s really hilarious how the completely out-of-touch media still believes a “government shutdown” will have people screaming in the streets.

They’re not only completely biased, they’re also amazingly stupid.

Yes xzins he is letting them know.

Beyond that, the only thing that happens in a so-called shutdown is that the executive makes decisions about what is essential and not. Essential stuff uses money and non-essential is truly shut down. Now, for the life of me I can’t figure out how having Trump make those decisions is in any way bad... indeed it would be ideal. And it seems that this would be the preferred method of operation fir the next 7 years.

Why would Dems even get close to this? And you just know Trump won’t do the backpay thing...at least not like it’s been done...

So since nobody seems to be saying this, I must misunderstand...sadly....

Trump will declare the military essential and win them to his side for forever.

He will declare the education department non-essential, and they already hate him anyway.

These CRs are killing this country.

Why don't we simply move the fiscal year to the calendar year. Do the budget in September/October for next year.

Do a simple, yearly, annual budget.

I do know that the government last made some (All DOD) employees take 6 days off without pay.

Ohmygosh. What a biased title. All he was saying that anything’s possible with DC legislators. Who can disagree with that?

I find it hard to believe someone from the private sector would go along with gov’t employees being paid their full salaries - a taxpayer paid vacation - for not working.

If it were me, I wouldn’t tempt the Trumpster like this.

They’ve been crying ‘oh no! government shutdown!’ for so long that nobody cares anymore.

Not true.

Many of us think it's a great idea!

If there were anyone to bring up the following bill, I think they’d win hands-down:

No other bills may be presented nor advanced until ALL appropriations have been passed by Congress and signed into Law.

How about a gov’t. shutdown that suspends all congressional salaries until they pull their act together. A few days without gov’t. doesn’t sound too bad.

Can we make that apply to our Attorney General, as well, please?

I remember when so many on here were psyched about Sessions as AG...

Correct. I could care less if the Federales shut down for two days or two months. Just so long as the Federal employees don’t get a paid vacation during it. The history of Federal shutdowns always seems to arrange payment for lost wages when they are over. The last Obama shutdown backfired on the Democrats. Hahahah

When the government is “shut down”, the pols ALWAYS pay the government “workers” for the time they took off. Stop paying this perk (akas: free vacation) and make these parasites suffer. Who cares if the government is shut down?

“I believe at the end of past government shutdowns, all of the “lost wages” have been returned to government employees. No downside for them.”

Yes, and contractors, who aren’t part of the “shutdown” still show up for work as usual and hold the fort down until the “shutdown” is over. In addition, some civilians are declared to be mission essential personnel and have to be on site. After the “shutdown” is over, the civilians, who “didn’t get paid” will be paid for the furlough days. It’s all theater on so many levels.

I’m going to go way out on a limb here. I think we’ll survive. After all, Santa isn’t a government employee, he’ll still be delivering presents on Christmas Eve.”

As if federal employees do jack around Christmas/New Years anyhow.

Because it’s the government and common sense doesn’t work there.
