IG Horowitz is an Obama appointee. He is best known as IG for whitewashing Fast & Furious and covering for Eric Holder.

Yes, sure subpoena the heck out of them, haul them into open session and learn nothing, but it’s a good chance for grandstanding by Congressmen.
Jordan is a good guy but he’s got to get reelected every 2 years so he’ll grandstand as much as any of them.
They know the good guys (Sessions, Wray, Rosenstein) cannot and will not disclose anything in public sessions. If they want the real thing, close the hearing and put everyone under oath. But no one wants to do that because no one can grandstand and anyone who leaks about it can go to jail.
So, kabuki theater provides entertainment and fodder for the media whilst the IG does the real work, the only work that will start to drive toward indictments and charges.
The DOJ won’t prosecute jack$hit with Sessions in charge.
