I think both Teddy and Bobby served a couple of years in the military. Pretty sure Bobby was in the Navy. Maybe papa Joe made sure all his boys were vets... that would add to the family creds.

I spent several summers on Martha's Vineyard in the 1960s as a child. Still have a couple of friends there (yes, they are quite liberal, but we avoid all political talk). When the incident happened, I knew it was lie. I've been on that road and across that bridge.

You must have. I studied this case as a true crime maybe 10-15 years ago. Never been there, but from the case study it would be obvious to locals he wasn’t driving her to the ferry (or whatever he was supposed to have been doing).
